All I wanted to do today was go eat lunch and then head to the park. It was a nice day out and I was alone today, Luke had to work and Calum was hanging out with his girlfriend.
With them I would do anything, there isn't a dare I would decline. I've done everything, form streaking to jumping of a bridge into freezing water. But, today was supposed to be a relaxing day, lunch then the park.
It was going great, I got to McDonald's, ordered, then went outside to enjoy the day while I ate. That got ruined by this kid walking up to me and just standing there, he asked simple questions. I answered in the few words, wondering where the kids parents were. This guy came out and got him. This didn't happen once, no it happened twice!
That was an hour ago, now I'm at the park sitting by a duck pond. There wasn't that many people here only an old couple, someone walking their dog, and some kids on the playground. It was quiet and relaxing.
I was humming random tunes in my head as a hummer pulled in the parking lot. I pulled my knees up to my chest and watched the ducks, like the loser I am.
I followed the ducks as they flew away, my eyes landing in the hummer and the people getting out. The tall red head getting a little boy with a bright smile out of the back seat. When the little boys feet hit the ground he took off to the swings, I smiled.
Only because the little boy reminded me of Harry when he was that little, well he still is little but not that little, he's twelve. Harry is still a baby to me. Harry is my brother
The red head followed the little boy at a much slower speed, running his hand through his hair every now and again. He looked tired, worn out and vaguely familiar.
The more I looked at him the more I remembered him from McDonald's. I stayed in my spot watching water.
Curiosity got the best and next thing I knew, I was walking over to them. "You following me or something?" I ask before I can stop myself.
The red head looks up from the little boy on the swing. He blushed and looked down helping the boy off the swing and told him to go run around. "No, this is just a coincidence." He walked over to a bench and I followed. He made sure he sat to where he could keep an eye on the boy.
"I don't even know your name and this is the third time we've met." I spoke breaking the silence.
"Michael, and that is Oliver." He told me. I nodded and looked at him watching the boy carefully.
"I'm Ashton." I said to him not sure of what else to say, it was quiet for a little bit.
"I'm sorry, he went up to you earlier, he's just curious. I didn't send him out there to... to like give me an excuse to talk to you.. I just wanted to spend the day with my kid."
The word kid sparked my attention, he doesn't look that old not that parents are old when they decide to have kids, but- ah hell what's the point. "Kid?" I asked.
He shifted uncomfortably, and looked down, "Yeah, Oliver's mine."
I frowned, "So you're straight?" I just met him yeah but, he's really cute, like a little kitten.
He chuckled, and shook his head, "No, I'm gay."
"Then if you're gay how do you have a kid? Last time I check we can't reproduce by ourselves.."
His smile faded a little and he looked at the ground. "I got a little to drunk and slept with his mom."
"Oh, well now that makes more sense."
"Yeah. Oliver! Stay away from the ducks! Excuse me." He said standing up and walking over to his son that was sitting in the grass trying to pick up one of the ducks.
