Sub Rosa means under the rose, a secret. Aphrodite gave a rose to Eros who gave it to Harpocrates. He was misinterpreted as the god of silence, where in Egypt he was the god of youth, Horus. He also represented sunrises and Dawn. He was healed from a poisonous snake bite and became a symbol of hope.
