The three of them live a life as unglamorous as the rest of us. It's dusk on a Thursday, and Autumn is dressing Canaan's bloody knuckles after a match. The scent of rubbing alcohol filling the bathroom, enough to make them both a little dizzy. Leah can't stand the sight of his blood anymore, so she waits outside the bathroom. It's too early for the stars to come out, but it's too late to watch the sun disappear behind the trees. Instead, they watch a TV gameshow host try to salvage what's left of his career. The show had been running long before any of them were born, and it will probably run long after all three of them returned to the Earth. The contestant buzzes in, the bell dings, and she has won the game. A track of a live studio audience clapping plays as the credits roll. The three stare blankly as the next episode plays. The same host with the same suit cracks the same jokes. His white teeth glint through strained lips. His eyes are empty, hollow enough to curl up into and hide during a lighting storm. None of them are paying attention to the show, but none of them want to see their reflections when the screen goes black. So they sit side by side on the couch that your grandmother probably has and they wait for their eyes to become too heavy.
