Chapter 3

Kiri POV

I was in utter shock. Were the police actually here? I should've been happy but I was terrified. I grabbed my sister and ran outside of the door as the police took my dad away in cuffs as my mom tried to follow them but she was being held back by two other officers. I tried hiding my sister in some bushes before I was grabbed,I screamed and kicked the person who was holding me. But he hugged me close trying to comfort me and calm me down. Eventually he convinced me to get into one of the police cars as I held my sister close. We drove away and went to a police station. Me and my sister were informed we would be sent to a foster home. I was scared...what if me and my sister got separated,what if we get a family worse then the last,what if....that's all I could think.

I shoved my stuff into the trash bag I used as a suitcase since I wasn't provided with anything else to put my clothes and belongings in. I picked up my sister....then the police officer that had comforted me back at home asked me to put her back down....at first I was confused...but then I realized what he mean and I was mortified. It was like my worst nightmare had come true. Everything else was a blur all I remember was alot of screaming and kicking. But I had to accept that I would possibly never see my sister again. I grabbed the trash bag full of my clothes and gave my sister a hug...I wanted it to last forever..as it would be the last one I would give her. I was escorted into the car as we drove to my new home. Luckily I didn't have to change schools since my new house was right across the street from my school.I begrudgingly got out of the car slinging the trash bag over my shoulder. Me and the police officer walked up onto the porch as him and my new family talked. After he left they showed me my room where I simply laid down on the bare mattress and stared up at the ceiling.
