[BACKSTORY]
he was, wait no, is, the middle child of the salvatores. which meant that he was mostly ignored during his childhood by his parents. not that he minded of course, he would always try and help his brothers when they were getting beaten by their father. which resulted in him getting beaten, but his was much much worse since he was the result of an affair. his mother, lillian had sex with a shadowhunter, so as he grew up he was introduced to the shadow world by his mother privately. he already knew of all the things that went bump in the night but he couldn't tell his brothers. so once he was turned into a vampire all of the anger, fury and a feeling of revenge hit him all at once. before i delve deeper, you should know something about ezra. he has very high self-restraint in very normal things, so this was increased as he became a vampire which granted him a control with his hunger. of course this didn't get controlled until about a decade later of being vampires. he now has complete control over his bloodlust. anyway, as i was saying, once the feeling of that came to him he immediately pushed it down, he calmed himself down which partly worked. katherine was impressed, very impressed. this was the first time she's ever seen a newborn vampire with this much restraint, she assumed it was to do with the shadowhunter genes. she never did flirt with ezra, but made him feel like he belonged and was wanted on this planet. so he saw her as a bestfriend, but once he found out about her leading his brothers on he was pissed. and he still holds a grudge against her to this day.
