Maybe the right course of action would have been to cut Yunlan out of his life completely. Maybe argue or have a fight. Pursue the complaint about last day date. But that's delusional really. There was no going back now, Shen Wei was too weak to let go even if he had to sacrifice his own heart and remain friends.
He layed in his bed recalling what his Ah Lan told him before he walked him home. He needed time to think for what's best for him. Zhu Hong showed her agreement already to Yunlan's suggestion to Shen Wei as his only option to be that close. If not, he may lose the man completely.
A Flash Back,
Yunlan "Don't ever scary me like this again, okay?"
"Sorry"
After he realized that he had made a mistake, Shen Wei swallowed his saliva and faltered. He grabbed onto Yunlan's shirt hugging him back. The two remained silent for quite a moment until the lights turned green again. They were able to cross the road safely to the other side while holding hands.
Yunlan "Have you eaten?"
Shen Wei "Not yet"
Yunlan bought two tickets for an open buffet restaurant where they were going to have their dinner. It was at his invitation that they were actually here. Shen Wei felt really happy as he sheepishly smiled. He was swiftly dragged to the long large tables that were stuffed with all sorts of dishes.
Yunlan "You are way too skinny, so you need to eat a lot, okay?"
Yunlan started filling Shen Wei's plates with healthy sea food, salads and rice. He remembered what he liked to eat and brought everything for him. He then asked him if he liked anything more. Shen Wei nodded with a no, after he looked at his plates not one but three with all kinds of dishes, he felt suddenly full.
They sat on the table before Yunlan poured him a glass of water then started arranging the plates on the table carefully for Shen Wei to start eating and handed him the chopsticks to his hands as if he was disabled and needed help. Yunlan was feeling better now seeing him started eating.
Yunlan "I want to be friends with you Shen Wei, so can we?"
Shen Wei "What?"
Yunlan "I can't lie to you Shen Wei, but whenever I look at you, I feel so protective of you. I want to protect you from everyone and everything, from crossing the road, and dating scary and dangerous people who could take advantage of you"
"Sugar, you are so young and naive that you can be easily seduced and hurt. So please let me be by your side and watch over you, teach you how to live in the safe side while we hold hands and cross the road safely"
"Ah Lan, I am not that weak for you to protect me...... But I don't mind being friends with you"
