Sapphire paced towards the room where Rico and Louie were. She slammed open the doors to get their attention.
"Alright. Pack up. It is time to m-" She halted and glared at the sight. She walked over to Louie, grabbed him by the T-shirt and demanded, "What is going on? Why is he here? When did he get in?"
It was June. He was trying to converse with Rico, who seemed rather hesitant in saying anything to him. Rico looked away, avoiding another reaper. His gaze fell on Sapphire.
Relieved, he bowed to the Soul Collector and went to her. June stood on spot, not budging at all. But continued eyeing the group of three closely.
"So... who is this new dude?" Louie asked, breaking the short silence among the trio. "Is he like the new member or something?"
Sapphire sighed, and glanced at June, who just smiled cheerfully at her.
"What do you want?" She loudly said.
June teleported directly next to her and began taunting her as he grinned from ear to ear. "I wonder~ Haha. I mean I am curious as to what Master wants with these two lost souls."
Sapphire inhaled sharply. Then exhaled sharply. She looked at him straight in the eye, which caused him to be taken aback. With wide ultramarine orbs, he stared back at her, hinting a bit of anticipation.
"Look, I do not know what Master wants with them. But currently, they are under my supervision. Therefore, you need not worry. In fact, he asked me to guide them, not you. So other than sharing the same master, we have no reason to act all friendly with each other."
"Rivals. That is what we are. No more, no less. And I will be the one to surpass the Master. You had better watch out. For I will eat you up when you least suspect it."
June whistled, "Ooh~ That'd be interesting. But haha. Guess what? I'm on your "team" from this very moment. Why not be mates for now?"
Sapphire's jaw dropped and eyes widened. "Master asked you to?"
He hummed in response, then looked at Rico and Louie, waving at them happily.
"Great. An annoying one is here." Louie remarked. Rico giggled. Sapphire rolled her eyes and nodded.
"Aw~ don't be so mean to me~ I guess so far I only like... Rico! Let's be friends, okay?" He slided over to Rico and shook his hand.
"Whatever. Anyway, let's move on if you two are done with your work here."
She walked out of the room. June followed her, leaving Rico and Louie remaining in the room. The two shared a look, accompanied by a short silence. Louie was about to say something, when Rico suddenly spoke.
"I..." He started,"I do not think we should trust June. He seems suspicious. There are far too many holes that are not connecting."
Louie replied,"I think we shouldn't trust either of them. They were talking about that master of theirs right? I wonder what he wants with us."
This piqued Rico's interest. He looked at Louie and asked,"What are you implying? That he knows something about us that even we do not?"
"... That too. But think about it. We're just some random souls who happened to end up in the worst place among Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell. Maybe I'm thinking too much in depth, but doesn't it seem weird that there is a reaper boss interested in us?"
"Reaper boss... That is true, though. I wonder what is up with them. Anyway, let us meet up with them before they hear us talking behind their backs."
