"Day three of 'Keeping my hands off Husk's sexy, furry bod'. I'm starting to lose my grasp on reality. Is this the end? Am I seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... again?"
"I can't believe you bought a pocket recorder for this. Actually... yeah, I can totally believe it."
Angel gave her a dramatic look, narrowing his eight eyes for a second before pressing the recorder again, without looking away once.
"Update: Vaggie's still a total bitch. Is she jealous of my gorgeous looks? Probably. Most likely yes."
She rolled her eye at those words, clearly more than used to his cheeky comments, returning to reading the newspaper with a sigh. Charlie, stepping into the kitchen, wasn't having it.
"Angel, that wasn't very nice. Please apologize."
"Ugh... fine. I'm sorry, Vaggie" he rolled his eyes so hard he feared they would get stuck like that. A smug grin appeared on his face a moment later as he lowered his voice. "I'm sorry you're not as pretty as me."
"Angel!"
He laughed heartily, throwing his head back and slapping the table.
The last three days had been quite a challenge. Seeing Husk every day, and not flirting with him, not even once... was harder than he expected. Still, he did find ways to bend the implicit rules, of course.
Like the way he would accidentally drop things in front of him, bending down to pick it up very slowly. Or the way he would put his mouth on anything that was remotely phallic-shaped and edible, with the feline demon happening to be in his line of sight.
That certainly got his attention. He would usually roll his eyes and look away immediately, although Angel could tell he was flustered. Still, he would clear his mind with some of his trusty cheap booze and move on with his day. No signs of wanting to end the drought he had imposed.
And maybe Angel was being a little over-dramatic, with his pocket recorder and updates nobody else would listen too, but he was actually feeling the lack of contact.
But, aside from that, he was feeling pretty good. He had picked up Fat Nuggets the very next morning after leaving Cherri's apartment, and when he snuggled with his beloved pet in his bed at night, he almost forgot he was basically acting as a spy for Valentino and his buddies.
