The Alpha was asleep. Dreaming about the mate he would be soon graced with. "I miss you." He whispered, softly.

He wanted her, he craved her very existence, he needed her by his side. His dreams slowly became, flashbacks all of her. All different ones - happy ones, fun ones, ones where the cuddled all nice all night now, but the one that he loved yet dreaded came.

"Baby, I have news to tell you." Sofia muttered, looking at the floor. She shared that in all her past lives - timid, she looked at the floor every time she needed to tell anyone something.

"Yes, darling? You can tell me anything." He took her hand and placed her on his lap. His arms wrapped around her waist, she smiled and placed his hand on her belly.

She decided not to say a word but let him guess what this meant. He rubbed her belly and smelled her, he moaned softly "Sofia." She smelled so sweet, it was indescribable. She sighed, having no words.

"Your pregnant, my dear." He smiled, that smile stayed on his face for that day.

But, terrible things kept coming his way. A war with another pack, while his mate was pregnant. That wasn't a good combination.

He always blamed himself for what happen. "Stay here, I'll handle this." He told her gently. She sighed and nodded not letting her fear show.

He went to the door, "The demise of your pack will be your fault. You'll know how it feels Daniel. You'll lose this time and I'll may sure of that." The man who threaten him smirked, it was large and creepy.

This man he once befriended turned into a vile monster because of one mistake he made. Daniel sighed, running a hand through his hair.

Daniel walked back to his mate and everything happen in slow-motion. Daniela's eyes widen and his mouth dropped. He rushed to her side, she was bleeding rapidly and she cried out in pain.

He was so stuck up in the past he barely smelled the blood. "Shit." He cursed, it scared him knowing she had so much body releasing her stomach. She was pregnant and only at least two weeks in, blood wasn't suppose to be coming out now!

"Shh." He tried to soothe her crying. It hurt him to see her hurt, he felt her pain. His stomach ached and he wanted to cry out. "It's going to be fine."

Daniel mind linked his Beta, "I need help." For an Alpha, out of any ranking in their world for an Alpha to call for him to a position lower than them showed something.

Alpha helped themselves and felt as they didn't need help, they could do everything themselves. They pushed themselves to prove they were worthy of their Alpha position. The pack knew they were worthy and earned that title but their wolves needed to know that.

"On my way, Alpha." His Beta replied. He wasn't far away, so he ran toward his Alpha's house. He wanted to know that they were okay.

-

The door opened and blood hit his nose. "Alpha, is everything alright?"

"Dammit, does everything smell alright to you?!" Wow was he pissed. "Derrick, I need you to take Sofia to the hospital, quickly. I have business to deal with. How dare he, to my mate!" He roared, thunder rumbled outside.

Usually nothing was no important to Daniel besides his mate and pack. But because of this war and his injured mate he already knew who had done such a thing.

His cruel words echoed in his head, "The demise of your pack will be your fault. You'll know how it feels Daniel. You'll lose this time and I'll may sure of that."

"Quickly, Derrick. Take her and guard her with your life." Daniel said, "I need her to be safe at all times."

-

Daniel woke from his dream covered in sweat at only 6:47 AM. He hasn't had those dreams in ages and now the memories are returning and haunting him.

It almost frighten him - but not for his sake, but for the sake of his mate.

Maybe he could prevent it this time. Maybe she'll be okay this time.

"I still miss you." Astrid heard him whisper to her, but it felt like a dream. His voice, she hadn't heard in ages and now it came in a faint whisper.

"I miss you too."

And they fell asleep, grinning happily. Happiness only lasted a moment before the storm. Then there was destruction.

If only they knew.
