CHAPTER VI
"NEW FRIENDS"

Hayoung
As the seven men came up to our table with chairs, I sunk further into my seat. It was going to be so awkward with my ex-boyfriend and his friends around.

I had met his friends in the past, but I had never sought out to be friends with them. I was fine with the three people I was already friends with. Jimin, Minji, and Soojin.

Once I looked up, I saw that Jimin had brought over a chair and place it right across from me. When he sat down he gave me a sweet smile and said: "Hi, Hayoung."

Just that, made me want to sit in his lap and melt into his arms. Just like how we did in high school. I wasn't over Jimin and it was obvious. I hated the fact that I couldn't move on.

"Hi." I said quietly.

"How have you been?" He asked as the rest of the group talked amongst themselves.

"Fine." I said, all of a sudden coldly. But he didn't even flinch at my tone. I was always the cold type, even before we were dating. In high school, people always suspected that I was cheating, because of the lack of affection I gave him.

But I couldn't help it. I never really got that affection growing up.

"So, uh, are you thinking about visiting Soojin's grave soon?" Jimin asked.

Ah, Soojin. My deceased best friend and Jimin's deceased wife. When news of her death got to me, I became distraught for a while. I was forced to take a break from the Air Force.

"What type of question is that? I've always visited her grave." I said, frowning a little.

"You have?" He asked shocked. "I never saw you at the funeral, when she was buried."

"Yea, I was there. Just well hidden. I couldn't bear to face everyone there. Including you." I said, whispering the last part.

Jimin blushed at that.

Jimin
What was I doing blushing at my ex-girlfriend? That's messed up, especially for me. I had a current girlfriend and I wasn't thinking about cheating on her.

"What?" She asked shyly as I kept staring at her.

"Can we meet up tomorrow? Just the two of us?" I asked softly.

She brought her legs up to a fetal position and lowered her head down a little. Something she did when she was nervous.

"Wanna meet at the café down the street?"

"Uh, sure. Let's meet up at noon." She said. She sure was cute.

"Um, I'm gonna go to the bathroom." She whispered.

Hayoung
I got up awkwardly, desperately trying to get away from my ex-boyfriend.

Why did I agree to meet up with him?

Wait, wait, wait, I'm not some dumb fan fiction character. I know why I agreed.

I'm still in love with that fucker. What's wrong with me?

Once I entered the restroom, I stood in front of the huge horizontal mirror. After a few minutes of staring at the mirror, I saw a figure.

A figure that looked too familiar. I turned back to see if she was really there, but there was nothing. Once again, I looked at the mirror and saw the figure.

It was Soojin.

There was no way I was seeing ghosts.

"Soojin?" I whispered.

Her ghost came up to me and gave me a back hug.

"I miss you." She whispered.

I looked back once again and saw nothing. But when I turned back to the mirror for the last time, her ghost was gone.

I quickly ran out of the bathroom and back to our table. The guys looked up at me weirdly as I started speaking gibberish.

Once I got my shit together, I finally screamed: "I just saw Soojin!"

"I thought she passed." Yoongi said, feeling a bit scared.

I mean, who wouldn't be scared in a situation like this.

"A-are you sure?" Jimin asked as he desperately tried to hide his shaking hands.

"Yea." I said softly. I truly pitied him. He didn't deserve any of this. His soft and innocent smile really made it seem like he hadn't seen some shit in the past.

"I should get going. Maya is probably missing me." Jimin said, still shaking. Jin, who was sitting next to him, rubbed his back and led him out the door.

I wanted to break down, right then and there. I missed Jimin, I missed Minji, I missed Soojin and I missed my family.

"Are you alright, Hayoung?" Jaxon asked because of my quivering lip.

"I need to go home." I whispered. And with that, I left, drowning in my own thoughts and sorrows.

I felt guilty.

And I wasn't okay.

Jimin
Once I entered my home, I walked into the living room to see Maya and Minji playing together. When Maya noticed me, she ran up to me and put her tiny arms around my legs.

"Hey, princess."

She noticed something off. She noticed her daddy wasn't acting like his usual, cheerful self.

The gray cloud over my head had moved over to hers.

"Are you alright, Chim?" Minji asked.

I felt guilty.

And I wasn't okay.
