Now, my fantasy is you

As the sun set, Seulgi suddenly got inspired to draw again. She placed her canvas in front of the window and spread out all her paint bottles and brushes. With soft classical music playing in the background, she began to outline what came to mind. First, the outline of a perfectly shaped face. Then, some details to finally start adding the some color.

After hours of painting, the sun had already set and the dark night sky was showing off. The sky was so clear she could see every little star and every little constellation.

She was satisfied with her finished product, a beautiful portrait of a woman who she learned to love better than anyone else.

Irene was always on her mind. Since Seulgi loved art, she demonstrated Irene she loved her the best way she knew; through art. She wrote poems for her, drew, and even designed the things Irene loved best. Irene loved roses, so she always drew one every week.

Their relationship was going well. After that confession day at the beach, they grew closer. Years went by and they still talk to each other and love each other.

Irene is her girlfriend now. It's a surreal thing to say, Seulgi thought. She never grew tired of saying it out loud.

They've been through ups and downs, just like any other couple. Jealousy, insecurity, doubts. They've been through it all.

Their love for each other is something that can't be easily explained. It's so real, so powerful, so mature, so strong that Seulgi thought she was dreaming.

Sometimes she wondered if Irene was real and it wasn't just her mind hallucinating after spending so many years alone in her apartment.

Despite her relationship with Irene, Seulgi never forgot where she came from. The ocean is always calling her name. Although she doesn't visit it as much, she makes sure to walk by and stare at the usual spot she sat in.

She saw the waves and the purple and pink sunsets, remembering how her life used to be. How dark and sad those days were, how her life didn't have any meaning to her.

Seulgi smiled and came back to the present, noticing she was holding Irene's hand firmly while they walked through the busy city. The sun was setting, this time the clouds adorned with purple and blue.

"Want to eat?" Irene asked, still holding Seulgi's hand warmly.

"Yeah. Where do you want to go?" Seulgi asked, connecting her eyes with Irene's.

Irene stopped, noticing they were in front of Bleu, the restaurant where they first met.

"How about here?" Irene smirked, making Seulgi chuckle.

"I'd love to."

Seulgi loved to go on dates with Irene every now and then. Spending time with Irene and seeing her smile made her entire day. She was lucky to have her in her life, and she hoped she would stay forever.

"Will you stay with me forever?" Seulgi asked. They were currently sitting in the sand at the beach Seulgi always used to go.

"Of course. Will you?" Irene asked, grabbing Seulgi's hand and kissing it.

"I'd love to." Seulgi smiled, their eyes connecting for the hundredth time that day. It was something they both loved to do. Every time Seulgi gazed into Irene's eyes, she truly believed eyes were the window to the soul.

Seulgi connected her lips with Irene's briefly before watching the darkening skies. The sound of the waves and the cars passing by made Seulgi tear up.

"What's wrong?" Irene noticed, tilting Seulgi's face so she could wipe her tears.

"Nothing. It's just that... I remember how I used to be when I surfed and slept in this beach. It was like my home." Seulgi smiled.

"And it can still be your home, you know. We come here like, two times a week."

"I come here because I never want to forget this place," Seulgi said, looking around.

"I'm sure you'll never forget it," Irene said, laying her head on Seulgi's shoulder.

Seulgi hugged her closer. The night was starting to get colder.

"You know how people have fantasies?" Seulgi said suddenly, startling Irene.

"Uh, yeah. I do."

"Well, I think I have one."

"You do?" Irene fixed her posture, looking directly into Seulgi's eyes.

Seulgi nodded, smiling.

"What is it?" Irene asked, impatiently curious.

"Well, my fantasy used to be the ocean. I used to spend my days here since nature inspired me to do most of my art." Seulgi said, still smiling.

"And what is it now?" Irene asked, already knowing the response.

Seulgi grabbed a little box from her pocket, got on one knee, and opened it, revealing a beautiful delicate ring inside. Irene gasped, tears forming in her eyes.

"Irene, I've known you for years now. You make me complete, and I love you so, so much, sometimes I think words aren't enough. I'm ready to love you forever, until I no longer exist. And even then, my love for you will never disappear. I'm ready to have a family with you, and to live beside you forever." Seulgi let out a shaky breath, her heart throbbing inside her chest.

"That's why I've wanted to ask you, Irene... will you marry me?" Seulgi choked out. Irene immediately hugged Seulgi, hard. She kissed her so passionately, so deeply and so in love it might've felt like a romance novel.

After Irene said yes and she wore that delicate ring on her finger, she still wondered what Seulgi's fantasy was.

"Hey, you still haven't answered my question."

"What question?" Seulgi asked, feigning ignorance.

Irene rolled her eyes but answered anyway.

"About what was your fantasy."

Seulgi smiled, grabbing Irene's hand.

"Like I've already said, the ocean was my fantasy. Now, my fantasy is you."

Irene gazed into Seulgi's deep brown eyes, so loving and so comforting she could stare at them for hours. They kissed again, and again, and again until they could no longer breathe.

That's just how love is, beautiful, raw, and full of meaning.

And throughout the night, the ocean stared. Maybe love had good stories to tell.
