Irene stared at the white ceiling of her bedroom with blurry vision. She only slept a few hours, thoughts about Seulgi's invitation invading her mind all night long.

If she wanted to go out with her, it meant that it was a date, right?

Irene was nervous and she didn't know why. Maybe it was because she barely knew the girl and agreed to go out with her, not knowing if she was a serial killer looking for the next victim.

Irene shook her head. That was silly. The girl, who she remembered was named Seulgi, was so timid and nervous when she asked her out she doubted her intentions were evil. Irene noticed the way she looked at her the few times she went to the restaurant to order the same thing every time: a chicken sandwich. Irene didn't know if she ordered that because she just wanted an excuse to see her or if it was actually the cheapest thing on the menu.

She also noticed that Seulgi was always alone. She never came into the restaurant with friends or family. The more Irene thought about it, the more her curiosity grew inside her.

She actually wanted to meet and talk to this stranger. She felt like the other girl wanted to say a million things, and Irene felt the same way.

Irene was alone in this city as well, her family living thousands of miles away from her, leaving her no choice but to communicate with them via cellphone or FaceTime.

She wondered if Seulgi was living alone or with her family. She wondered how many friends she had, what does she do everyday, who does she want to become.

Irene was a person filled with a lot of philosophical thoughts. Since she was little, her point of view on the world around her was always different from the other kids. She admired nature's wonders and how well balanced the world was, how humans and other living beings coexisted inside a giant floating rock in space that is filled with life. She admired the ocean and its amazing power, the mountains, the clouds, how hurricanes and tornadoes and earthquakes came to life and destroyed everything in its path. How nature could build itself after it was destroyed by the hands of evil. Planet earth, a strong planet that could endure climate change and still give life to those who destroy it everyday.

Irene was always thinking about everything around her, of everything she couldn't control. So, that's why she wanted to feel how Seulgi's company could fulfill those heavy but inspiring thoughts.

Seulgi was walking through the busy sidewalk next to a playground. The place was full of kids and dogs running around the wide open space. Laughter and screams could be heard at the distance and Seulgi's smile was small. Sceneries like that made her a little less lonely.

However, she noticed two guys around the age of 15 picking on a short girl by the swings. They were pushing her harshly by the shoulder and shouting god knows what monstrosities to her face. Seulgi could feel her blood boiling with anger as she stepped into the situation.

"What's going on here?" Seulgi said darkly as she watched the two boys laughing at her.

"Mind your business if you don't want to get in trouble," one of them said and crossed his arms.

"Oh, I'm so scared," Seulgi said sarcastically and turned cold again. "You better get the fuck out of here."

"Oh yeah? What—"

He was barely able to finish when Seulgi grabbed one of them by the collar and slammed his body into a pole.

"I said, get the fuck out of here or else!" Seulgi screamed into his face and they both ran away quickly. Seulgi closed her eyes and tried regulating her unstable breathing.

"Um," the short girl approached her slowly. "Thank you so much, for getting me out of that situation. They've always made fun of me," the short girl said sadly.

"It's nothing, I really can't stand bullying or any kind of abuse." Seulgi turned around and saw the short girl scared to approach her more, so she took the first step. She didn't want the girl to be scared of her.

"I'm Seulgi, nice to meet you under these circumstances," they both laughed and the girl shook her hand firmly.

"I'm Wendy, and it's nice to meet you too. Thank you, really."

"No problem. Nobody deserves to go through that."

"That's true. Well, I gotta go find my dog and parents now, but I hope I see you around!" Wendy gave one last wave and took off to the park, Seulgi watching as she found her dog and her parents by a bench.

She wished she had her family here with her, spending time at the park and doing small things like walking around the city and eating in good restaurants.

She missed her brother, her mother and her grandmother.

It was impossible for her to meet them here on earth, so that's why she had hope to see them all once her soul left.

Hours after, she found herself at the beach again. Her mind was clogged and blurry again, so she needed a distraction. In a few days she was going to meet Irene, so she wanted to be in a good state of mind.

She surfed, and surfed, and surfed. She surfed until her muscles screamed at her to stop. She stopped when it got too dark for her to see where she was swimming to.

She sat by the shore and admired the darkening skies, the night turning cold. The salty air brushed against her black hair as she sighed, feeling worse than before. She felt sad and alone, and the feeling was so overpowering she just wanted to go home and cry.

She was alone in this world, and she had to accept that fate.
