Hello everyone! Thank you so much for reading my story. I know I am not the best at writing but I really appreciate all the views and votes. Chapter 2 is a really short chapter, but chapter 3 should be up by tomorrow. Thank you, and enjoy!

Today was Rowan's second date with the strange Corbin. She planned to demand to know why he had a gun and what his intentions were. She planned that after her date, if he was guilty, she would turn him in. If innocent, they would go their separate ways and that would be her last encounter with this mysterious person. Rowan imagined exactly how it would happen. Even though she had a great plan, it did not quite work out that way...
She walked into the restaurant where their next date would take place. Rowan didn't notice her surroundings (the people and the building). She was too focused on Corbin and the gun. She had on a blue vintage dress with white polka dots. It was tight around her stomach and puffy at the skirt and it went down to her knees. Dangling from her forearm was Corbin's black fleecy coat. She had a small white handbag that had gold outlining. Inside of the handbag was the plastic bag that held Corbin's gun. Corbin was again, wearing all black and he was already sitting at a table.
"Hello. You look lovely" He said eyeing the coat in Rowan's hands.
"Thank you" She smiles, trying to act pleasant and trying not to develop feelings for this strange and mysterious person, "I think we must have accidentally switched coats yesterday". She said, handing him the coat (with empty pockets) before she sat down. Corbin's expression shows a masked face of fear as he rapidly searches the pockets.
"Are you looking for this?" Rowan says unsympathetically as she places the plastic baggie with the gun on the table.
"I-I can explain," the dark voice says, snatching the gun off the table as fast as humanly possible.
"Be my guest" she says cold-heartedly. Corbin looks around them, checking his surroundings before he begins his story.
"Where I lived before," he starts while leaning into Rowan so no one else will hear, "It was a very dangerous place. That's why I moved here-"
A waitress comes around and Corbin sits up, "Can I get any drinks started for you today?" she asks kindly.
"Black peach tea" Corbin orders politely. The waitress scribbles his order onto her notebook before turning to Rowan.
"Just a water please"
"Okay, I will get those right out," says the waitress walking away to the kitchen.
"As you were saying" Rowan mused.
"Right. So um there was this guy named Randy and um he was...stirring up trouble, Long story short, if I didn't shoot first, I would have been shot myself" He shook his head to get the idea out of his head.
"What!" Rowan said too loudly.
"Shhh. Keep your voice down" Corbin said looking around again.
"Oh my goodness," Rowan said quieter, "You've shot someone?!?" Disbelief rose in her voice.
As you may remember, Rowan is not a fan of violence and neither was the small town of Crest Hill. She grew up without violence so the idea that Corbin had done things violence related...well let's just say it was not an attractive thought for Rowan.
"Yes," he said timidly.
"Is the guy ok?"
"I'm not sure if Randy was harmed," he admits.
"How can you not be sure? You shot someone and you didn't even make sure he was still alive? You could be a murderer for all you know" Rowan said, keeping her voice at a decently quiet, but concerned tone.
"I had to leave as soon as I could. I was in danger" he rushed in a harsh whisper.
"Oh my god" Rowan mutters to herself in incredulity.
"I promise you, that will never happen again. Before that, I had never done anything violence wise and I will never do it again" Said Corbin with strong authority in his tone. Rowan looked straight into his black, mesmerizing eyes.
"Y-Y-you promise?" She stutters. What's happening? It was as if she were under a spell or as if she had been brainwashed. She no longer cared about the crimes; it was as if she didn't care about his past at all. She clearly wasn't thinking straight. If she was, she would have followed her original plan and get out of here. She should head straight to the police,...but she didn't. Instead, she sat there waiting for Corbin's assuring response.
"I promise," He said in a heart-melting tone while their eyes locked.
"Ok, I believe you," Rowan said, not even caring about the... "accident" from his past.
And that day is the day Rowan accidentally fell in love with The Strange and Mysterious Corbin...
