Wow, guys. I wasn't expecting anyone to read my story but I've been getting quite a few views on all of my chapters. Thank you all so much for reading my story. I hope you enjoy this next drama-filled chapter :).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rowan meet Corbin outside of the theater. It wasn't a big place. The outside walls were painted red and there was a chalkboard on the wall that said which movies were playing. If they had gone to the theater in Seattle it would have been much bigger but they decided to stay in the small town. Crest hill movie theater only could have 2 movies playing at once because they only had 2 screening rooms.
Hand in hand, the two love birds walk into the theater. Corbin had previously bought two tickets for the 6 o clock showing of a new movie called "The accidental Wedding" a rom-com about 2 people who accidentally got married but end up falling in love with one another.
They walked inside to the small room that had a long table straight in front of the entrance. Behind the grey marble table was a popcorn machine, a soda machine, and packs among packs of candy.
"Let's go get some popcorn and drinks," Rowan says, pulling Corbin's hand in the direction of the concession stand.
"I will get a buttered popcorn and some skittles please," Rowan tells the vendor.
"Ok and for you?" He asks turning to Corbin. The vendor was John Mclane. Rowan went to high school with him. John was a nerd who had straight A's all-freshman and sophomore year until the bullies got to him and he stopped trying as hard his junior year. They would call him John Mclame. So sad.
"I will just get the darkest soda you have please," he said with a smirk.
"Will that be it?" John asked politely. Rowan and he didn't talk much in high school, she just knew his name and that he was bullied.
"Yes thank you," Rowan says, digging through her purse for her wallet. Corbin beat her to it, already handing John his card.
"I'll get it," he says while John swipes his card. Rowan smirks at him and grabs her popcorn and skittles.
Together, they walked into the A theater, it wasn't very crowded, just a few other people. Corbin led her to the back of the theater. Ads were playing on the screen in front of them. A couple walks past them trying to find a seat, then a younger man who was probably still in high school walked out of the theater. This boy looked like what Rowan imagined Corbin looked like when he was younger. The boy was dressed in all black and the boy had black, scruffy hair.
"I'm going to go to the restroom," Corbin says as he gets out of his seat. He noticed the boy too...
Rowan didn't think anything of it though. Rowan watched the passing ads. Ads for new movies coming, one ad for soda, there were a few ads about candy.
Time passed, the movie had started, but still, Corbin wasn't back. Rowan began to get worried. Looking around herself, she could see all the couples cuddling while watching the movie. Still no sign of Corbin.
Rowan grabs her purse and walks out of the theater into the room where John was working the stand.
"Have you seen Corbin?" She asks him.
"The guy you came in with?" John asks, not knowing who Corbin is.
"Yeah."
"He went into theater B," John said pointing to theater B's doors. Confusion struck Rowan's face. Why would he go there?
"Is there a movie playing there?"
"Nope. It just ended about 20 minutes ago. I don't get paid enough to care though"
"Wh-? Um, john? W-was he alone?" She asks, hoping he was alone. At this moment fear crept through her whole body as she remembered the coats and the guns and everything he had told her. She hoped he was not doing anything that the both of them would regret. He promised her that nothing like that would happen again.
"Um, I'm not sure. I think he went in with some kid. Looked like his cousin or something. Why?"
"I have to go" Rowan rushes off to the B door. Before pushing the door open she pauses and takes in a deep breath.
Shakily, her hands push open the door slightly, just enough to see the boy sitting in a seat looking rather bored and Corbin up at the wall. Relieved, she pushed the door open the rest of the way, letting out a big breath of air.
Her jaw dropped as soon as the door was fully open for she saw a sight she wished she didn't see. She wished her eyes were playing tricks on her. Corbin was not against the wall, there was a person against the wall. Corbin was standing over the person.
The person was a male wearing a suit with his dirty blonde hair gelled back under a fancy hat. The male was dressed in a rather fancy outfit considering where they were.
What had made Rowan's jaw drop was the gun. The same gun the rowan found in her pocket 3 weeks ago. The same gun Corbin snatched off the table on their second date when he promised he would never do anything like this again. The same gun that Corbin was now holding against the mobster's head.
She wanted to walk towards him screaming "don't do it", but she couldn't. Fear had taken over. She was frozen solid with her hand on the door, her mind racing. She wasn't sure what to do, she wasn't thinking clearly.
Finally, she moved, but not in a way she was expecting. Rowan pulled out her phone and called the cops without thinking much of it.
"Hello," She said in a quiet breathy tone as she quietly shut the door to theater B.
"Hello this is Crest Hill emergency services, where is your emergency?" A nice woman said through the receiver.
"I'm at the crest hill theater."
"Ok, what seems to be the problem"
"Um Um uhh" she stuttered, "a gun. And a mobster and..gun to his head" She couldn't seem to form a sentence.
"Calm down ma'am. I'll send some officers over right now" Rowan heard keyboard clicks through the phone. Rowan felt like she couldn't breathe.
"Ma'am are you still there?" the lady asks.
"Yes," Rowan whispers.
"Can you tell me exactly what happened." Rowan took a minute to control her breathing.
"Yes. I-I was h-here on a date w-with my boyfriend a-and he went to the restroom and t-then took forever t-to come back an-" She broke off to tears as what she had seen clicked in her mind. This was real. This was actually happening....
