"Pokémon aren't tools for battling. They are partners, not chess pieces."

Every Trainer is aware of that golden rule when it comes to treating their Pokémon with responsibility as well as extreme care and love. However, this is not the case for all of them as a story of a certain Trainer and his Pokémon surfaces.

~°~

Dampening my brown-colored fur turned it into a bit darker after soaking my body on the rich water from a nearby river. Aside from having proper hygiene, my mother Bibarel always reminds me to wash on the water surface so I can get used to it when I evolve someday. Truth is, her words baffle me. What does she mean by evolve? Is that comestible food? Whatever could that be, will there be fins growing on my fur, granting me to be able to swim like the Water -Type Pokémon around here like Magikarp and Goldeen? Despite the confusion, I still obey her commandments for I am aware that she's doing it for my own sake. Thinking of it right now only gives me a headache.

I decided to get out of the shallow water after staying on it for quite a long time. My mother told me to come home as early as possible before sunset. A group of Luxio is lurking around nighttime and they're not the friendliest Pokémon around the field. However, they're not the threat alone. Mother also said there is a certain kind aside from Pokémon called humans who are extremely different from us. They stand tall in their long legs and have a proportion size and length of body, head, and arms.

I've been hearing that some of the humans call themselves Trainers and there's one prominent thing they usually do: they capture us Pokémon. They lure different kinds of Pokémon to come with them using their magical ball that its size constantly changes from small to big. Humans do have those kinds of things in their possession and they enjoy throwing it on us while the magical round object will suck any Pokémon it touches. I wonder if those things are some kind of a cage. I reckon it's pretty cramped and uncomfortable inside. I mean, how could a Pokémon, especially giant ones fit into one tiny magical orb?

Shaking my head along with the unnecessary perplexity surging within me, I realized these Trainers are nothing but a disturbance to the natural way of living for Pokémon in the wilds. Perhaps my own depiction isn't the exact description of their true nature. Howbeit, just like how Pokémon has a good or bad nature, Trainers have virtuous traits too. Well, it's true they catch Pokémon with their magical ball they pitch but I think that is their tool to befriend us. I've always thought having a human friend would be amazing. I heard these awesome people also take you on thrilling escapades that let you travel the whole world out there with them by your side. Imagining how fun could that make me squeal in glee. Although, I never mentioned any word about that to my mother. Pretty sure she'll just babble how humans are deceitful and a manipulator of some kind but I refuse to believe that because I believe everyone has a good side in them no matter how cruel a single one of them is. Ironically, it was she who also told me once that there are no such things as perfect beings in this world. All the good have negative traits while the bad ones have positive traits within themselves. Thanks to that belief, my wish of having a human friend someday was never decimated.

Snapped out of my daze when I noticed how the time hastened as the sun sunk into the magnificent mountain view. The sky displays an orange sky and its color rivals a Kricketot's body. Grasses and trees that are typically in viridity were painted with the color of sunset rays. This time of day calls for one of my favorites, supper time! Thinking of it made my stomach grumble, telling me that I should feast myself with some delightful munchies soon. Mother would always bring home some colorful edible berries and mushrooms that she picked along the way during her scavenging.
