Chapter XVIII.

Slumber party.

It had been Nicolae's decision to send Claire away for a while.
Lily was starting the turning process and it wasn't safe for a human to be around a freshly turned vampire, unless they wanted Lily to attack Claire at any given time.

The little girl would loose all self control if they kept Claire around.

That was why Drogo asked Vanessa if she could have Claire over for a few days.

He didn't even need to use his powers on her, because Vanessa would just do anything Drogo could ask her.

Nicolae on the other hand, alerted Sebastian Jones of their father's newly acquired daughter and his imminent return.
Nic was worried for Claire, and Sebastian perfectly understood that, assuring the vampire he would keep an eye on Claire and Vanessa.

"Thank you Vanessa, I had a great time watching that movie. I am so tired I will fall asleep instantly." Claire chuckled as she got up from the living room couch.

"It was so awesome to watch it with you. I did not know you liked this kind of movies! Fantasy is my absolute favourite, we can watch another tomorrow! " Vanessa replied with enthusiasm and hugged her friend after getting up.

"You take care of yourself. Have a good night, Claire." She walked her to her bedroom, then headed to hers.

Claire entered the room and looked around with a smile. Vanessa had been so kind to let her stay in her appartment. It was small of course but it wasn't that bad.

Claire checked her phone and was saddened by the fact that Nicolae had not written her all evening long. He must have been really busy with Lily trying to keep her humanity or at least part of it.

He had told Claire in the past days how they would handle the process and tried to help Lily as much as they could.

Claire sighed and set her phone to quiet mode. Then she started to get undressed, wearing only a silky nightgown to her knee.

She laid down after brushing her teeth and sighed again, looking at the dark screen of her phone on the night stand, waiting for a goodnight text...

After a few minutes spent staring at the screen, she felt a sudden breeze moving the curtains of the little balcony she had left open.

"May I come in?"

Nicolae's voice was so soft, so warm and persuading.

Claire turned around and saw him standing under the balcony's doorframe. She smiled brightly and got up.

He couldn't come in if he wasn't invited inside by someone who lived there. Luckily Claire was still awake and since she was staying there, she could grant him permission.

"Yes you may!" She said happily, longing for his touch.

Nicolae smiled and was able to step inside the room. "The movie you watched was really long."

He said as he finally pulled her in his arm, feeling her body against his.

"You saw us?" She asked cutely. "Wait, how long have you been waiting outside my room?" She felt silly now.
