Darius sat in the carriage with Jayden, he looked at Jayden, who was staring out the window, "Where do you think we're going?" Darius asked,

"Most likely your hometown," Jayden responded, Darius nodded,

"Right," Darius shifted, thinking, then said "Why do you steal?" Jayden stiffened at hearing this,

"Why do you?" he said, throwing the question back,

"I stopped stealing years ago," Darius replied, "Now, why do YOU steal?" Jayden's eye fell, his left ear was torn, which made him seem older than he was, he sat back, brought his knees to his chest, and set his arms around his knees, Jayden let his tail droop off the seat, silent.

"Because I want Amber to be proud of me," he choked out at last,

"Jayden, may I ask you a question?" Darius asked, Jayden looked at him,

"I guess,"

"How old are you?" Jayden looked uncomfortable, he kept quiet, not answering, "Jayden, how old are you?" Darius repeated, finally Jayden responded,

"Eleven, I'm eleven," Darius looked at him in surprise,

"You're so young," the carriage stopped and Darius climbed out,but not before pulling his hood on tight, he then assisted Jayden, with protests from the young cat. He guided him a gravestone, "Hello Summer, I hope you're well," Jayden looked at Darius with confusion,

"Why are you talking to a rock?" Darius looked at Jayden in shock, Does this kid not know what a gravestone is? Darius took a breath and made eye contact with him, however, seeing his face made him falter,

"Let's go back to town now," Darius set a flower he had in his pocket in front of the grave, "What do you think happens to people when they die?" He asked Jayden, who looked at him,

"They go to sleep for a really long time!" he exclaimed, "My mother's been asleep for 5 years now," he said reluctantly, Darius felt his ears fall back, taking his hood with them, he let his hood stay fallen, as the town was abandoned, nobody wanted to live where a bunch of their kind had died,

"Jayden, know one thing, sisi ni sawa," Darius told Jayden,

"What?"

"Sisi ni sawa, it means we're the same,"

"But you're a wolf, i'm a cat,"

"So? We're still the same"

"I guess, but" Darius cut him off,

"This was my home," gesturing with his tail, "Nyumbani ni mahali ambapo moyo ni, home is where the heart is," Jayden nodded,

"May we go home now?" Darius smiled,

"Of course,"
