One more chapter.

Just one more chapter.

She would go to sleep after she finished this one last chapter.

At least, that's what Annabeth had told Percy 3 hours ago. As you can tell, she had read a lot more than just one chapter. She had promised him she would go to bed, as tomorrow they would have an early morning. New Rome had also attempted to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by cancelling classes, so she and Percy were going to head back to New York to wait out the pandemic with Sally, Paul, and little Estelle.

After encountering a page break to account for a shift in perspective, she finally worked up the willpower to close the book and set it on her nightstand.

Percy was curled up against her side, his arms flung around her waist, his head buried in the crook of her neck. As she shifted her weight so she could lay down comfortably, she wasn't too worried about waking him up, because her boyfriend slept like a rock. Even after Tartarus, when they were both haunted by nightmares whenever they were apart, he would sleep just as soundly as he did when they were twelve as long they were in each others arms.

She offed the bedside lamp, and as she pulled the covers up over his sleeping form,  she couldn't help but stare. It was small, peaceful moments like this when she realized just how beautiful he was. She had fallen in love with him when he was a pre-pubescent teenager, and she often overlooked just how gorgeous her boyfriend truly was. He looked so peaceful, so calm, and in that moment, everything felt right. Everything felt . . . perfect. Like the final scene of a romance novel, where the main characters knew that their troubles weren't over, but it was okay, because they had each other and that was enough.

Unfortunately, that moment didn't last, as, while reaching to turn off the lamp, she had accidentally knocked over her book, which fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Percy began stirring at her side, and murmuring something barely audible as his eyes fluttered open. "Wise Girl?"

"I'm right here Seaweed Brain, right here." She pressed a soft kiss on his forehead, "I'm always gonna be right here."

Reassured, he returned to his original position and mumbled an I love you against the soft skin of her neck, and wrapping her arms around him, she said it back.
