-so I was kinda debating how to write this
-bc I couldn't figure out how to-do it in my usual format
-but then I was like screw it this is basically a headcanon so I might as well write it like that
-so yeah
-tell me of you guys prefer this, my usual style, or a mix of both
-also I'm writing this on my phone in the middle of the night while I'm supposed to be sleeping so sorry about any spelling and/or grammar errors-let's get started
-so being in quarantine with minimal human interaction has just given .e so many feels
-like so one of my first thoughts about this was about Hermes himself
-like everyone knows that Luke did the whole turning evil and working with Kronos thing because he didn't get enough attention from his dad right?
-so imagine Hermes finding out and just feeling so guilty
-like a bunch of Hermes kids probs died in that war right?
-so imagine Hermes going "I screwed up one of my kids and know even more are dead"
-and then he starts going out of his way to pay extra attention to all of his kids
-bc he just can't have another Luke
-and then imagine a Hermes kid going and showing a new camper around and having to explain that most god's don't really pay attention to their kids
-and then the new camper being like "but you said your dad was super caring and there for you"
-and them having to explain and remember the fact that their dad pays attention to them because he's seen what happens when he doesn't-but on a lighter note
-Percy's been going around doing the whole "we need cabins, even for minor gods!" thing right?
-but like there's hundreds of these guys and he's probably never going to get to all of them
-so imagine Hermes seeing this little kid who's parent doesn't have a cabin and doesn't widely acknowledge them
-and just being like "welp I guess your my kid now"
-or a really young kid coming to camp, who hasn't reached the designated twelve yet, and hasn't been claimed
-and being like "young, unclaimed, demigod? I think you mean NEW CHILD!!!"
-and unwittingly making the gods claim there kids even faster(I'm talking within 24 hours of coming to camp)
-bc "Hermes has already stolen five of my children godsdammit he is not stealing a sixth-after that brief intermission we will return to our usual depressing content
-okay so enough about Hermes
-let's talk about his kids
-so like, as we all know, at the end of TLT Luke goes and lures Percy n the woods and tries to kill him
-and I feel bad for whoever had to tell the Hermes cabin that
-Luke was 22 when he died, so we can determine that he was around 18 when he left camp
-we also know that Travis has left for college in the Hidden Oracle, and from what we can tell, this takes place a couple months after HoO, and if those events took about a year, and PJO occurred over the course of four years, Travis and Conner were 13-14 and 12-13 respectively when they became head counselors
-bc Chiron was refusing to hand out quests before Percy waddled in, we can assume that the Stolls were made head counselors based on age alone
-which means that out of all the Hermes kids, Luke wasn't just the head counselor, he was also the oldest and most mature
-meaning that him leaving was probably an enormous blow to the whole cabin-and imagine the stress this put on the Stolls
-when Luke left, they were given no warning whatsoever, they were just handed this important role
-they were barely teenagers, they didn't know how to deal with this
-you could argue that Annabeth was also quite young when she became head counselor, but she was born a leader
-but the Stolls weren't like Annabeth
-she was impossibly mature for her age, and they were relatively immature for theirs
-they lacked the natural leadership qualities we find in so many of our other characters
-I'm talking Percy, Annabeth, Luke, Reyna, etc.
-but so basically, what I'm trying to say is: the Stolls were absolutely not ready for this, and the Hermes cabin was certainly not ready for such a sudden shift in power
-my personal headcanon is that that's one of the reasons that a bunch of his siblings followed him to Kronos's side
-not because they believed in the cause, but because the believed in their big brother~~~
Hi everyone! So this was a lot longer than I anticipated, but it turned out okay so that's chill.
Y'all can skip this part btw be I'm not really going to be saying anything too important
I've just been feeling kinda emotional lately
Like I usually don't cry because of shows. But during quarantine I binge-watched She-Ra on Netflix and I bawled minimum 3 times per episode. It was crazy man.
And then I started watching Kakegurui, and I'm halfway through season two and we get to the tower of doors thing and Kirari jumping after Sayaka and I just burst into tears. Like, brain??? Hello?? This is not the time???
So yeah that's it. Btw I'd love to hear what you guys've been watching during quarantine, so leave a comment and I'll try and check it out!
That's all for now folks, and don't forget to vote, comment, and stay whelmed. Later peeps!
