I walk in the front door of my house with a big breathe. My dad's car is outside. And a moving truck.
"Great." I mumble as I enter to see boxes everywhere.
"Hi honey." The stranger who is my father greets me.
"Wha-what is this? No. We are not leaving." I tell him.
Liam comes down the steps, carrying a box.
"Liam?" I ask him, hoping he will take my side.
He looks up at me with hurt eyes. "We're going." He states and I notice his knuckles are bloody and swollen.
I run up the stairs to my room to find almost empty. But across the hall, my mum's room hasn't been touched.
I slam my door and sit on the floor in the middle of my mostly empty room.
I look around the room. Recapping the memories of my childhood that I've lived within this small room.
A tear or two come to my eyes as I try to regain strength again.
After a while of just sitting there, I rush down the stair.
"Geoff?" Not calling him the name that he hasn't deserved.
"Yes?" He asks walking into the dinning room.
"Where are we moving?"
"America." He tells me and my heart skips a couple beats.
"But-but Wolverhampton is my home. I'm not moving to some American town where everyone will a, make fun of me, or b, ask a million questions. No. I'm not going." I go outside and see a pile of my boxes still sitting on the lawn.
I pick up two from the top and take them back inside. I go back to get the rest and lock my room door.
"Hello?" Leah answers my call.
"Hey, can you come over. Or ya know. Can I live with you?" I casually ask.
"What? What happend?"
"We're moving. Right now. To America."
"Right now?"
"Yes they're trying to take my life away."
"Okay." She says and I can hear the car engine start. "On my way."
Soon She she's at my house and we're packing my boxes into her small car.
As we drive away, I doubt my dad noticed I'm gone. I stare at the house that holds my memories as it goes further into the distance.
We come to her house soon. Its much bigger than mine, her family is much richer than my mum's was.
"Hey mum." She greets her mum while carrying a couple boxes upstairs.
"Umm. Leah?" She asks, stopping her and I in our tracks.
"Yes mother?"
"What's going on?"
"Oh, yeh. Bella is living with us now. In the spare room. I'll explain later." She tells her mother while starting back up the steps again.
We enter the spare room, which is right next to Leah's.
There's a bed already there, with blue bedding. A wordrobe on each side of the room and a tv across.from the bed. The wardrobes are normal size, but my small proportion of clothes won't fill it.
"You can put your bedding on the bed. If you would like to." She suggests.
"Its fine." I tell her.
We go back outside to grab the last of the boxes.
Leah tells me that she'll let me settle in and leaves me alone. I unpack my clothes from the box and like I thought, they barely fill the wardrobes.
I think I'll use the spare sheets instead of my own. Mine are all beat up and like 10 years older than those ones.
After unpack the 6 boxes of mine I sit on my new bed and look around.
I notice a sound system. A Bluetooth sticker on the speakers.
I pull up Bluetooth on my phone and connect to the system.
I turn on some American Authors and let everything sink in.
This just happened.
My mum just passed.
I just moved.
I don't like this song.
I press the skip button quickly.
I guess this is my life.
