I meet Penn in the changing rooms and quickly remove my clothing and wear my black fitted dress.
"That was amazing Luce. Where did you learn to fence like that? That was professional level" penn says elated.
"Practise" I say quickly. I reminisced over my past lives. It was Daniel who taught me how to fence. He wanted to know I could protect myself if I was ever in danger.
I suddenly felt guilty. The guilt was like gasoline in my guts. My insides died slowly in the toxicity, needing no more than a spark to set it ablaze. I felt bad the way I treated Daniel. I didn't give him a chance.
"What class do you have next" I ask.
"Math" Penn says sighing.
"Ew." I laugh. Math was absolute death.
Penn chuckled.
"I know right. I have to get going Mr Marse goes crazy if we're even one minute late. Bye Luce" Penn says hugging me.
"You're cold luce wear a jacket" penns says smiling walking briskly.
"Okay mom" I say laughing.
"Good girl" penn replies back as she left the room.
I glance at my reflection in the mirror and apply some mascara and lipgloss and head to english. I was late as always by 10 minutes.
"You're late young lady. Detention" the old man says.
"For fucks sake" I say.
"Excuse me" the old man says waking towards me.
I glance at the old man in the eyes compelling him.
"You won't give me a detention understood" I say with force."Okay" the old man says.
"Good" I reply.
I quickly scan the room and find Cam in the back of the room smirking at me motioning for me to come. His red highlights looked sexy. In the opposite end of the room was Daniel gazing at me sympathetically. An empty seat was free near Daniel and I walked up to him taking the free seat.
Daniel was in total shock, remaining stiff and frozen at my choice. He smiles gracefully at me.
"I'm sorry about before. Who you talk to isn't any of business. I care for you luce and I just don't want to see you get hurt" Daniel says with sincerity laced in his voice.
I smile at him.
"I'm sorry at the way I acted. What I said about the whole girl thing. I was angry and didn't think coherently. I feel incredibly bad. I'm sorry Daniel" I say genuinely guilty.
Daniel laughs beautifully carefree.
"It's okay luce I don't want you to get so worked up about it. Let's forget it happened" Daniel says with compassion radiating from him.
