One Week Later
Apart from getting fired from the sandwhich shop (which was long overdue anyway) for always calling in, and staying in all week working on writing for some artists—it was pretty lax.
Those artists included but were not limited to: SZA, Jorja, and Kali, for now.
Rose had a full plate, and rarely had time to work on her own stuff. She liked it though; staying low-key while still doing what she was most passionate about, writing.
Her relationship with Abel was a little more complicated though. They made up a few days ago, both apologizing. He stated that he'd never let Bella anywhere near them again, and that it was a promise.
Rose agreed.
He also called yesterday, leaving a voicemail that said he wanted her to be at his album release party with some friends.
"You know after this drops you'll be known right? Anyway, text me if you decide to join. Bye."
Were his parting words.
The only problem was that it was tonight, a Thursday night, and her schedule was so packed she probably wouldn't make it.
Rose checked her email before a call lit up her phone.
Tyler.
"Hey—,"
"Nigga did you tell Destiny about the Sade thing?"
"What Sade thing?"
"Love Deluxe. The live version. She just came by and dropped off the fucking vinyl that i've been looking for since I lost it."
"Oh shit, with the original instrumentals?"
"Yeah nigga. It's no way she knew that."
"I didn't. Probably a lucky guess."
He changed the subject.
"How's the writing going? Kali said she's excited. Nigga texted me this morning."
"I know, we facetimed the other day, I'm excited..."
Tyler immediately heard the shift in her tone without missing a beat.
"What's wrong?"
"I just... I've just been on overdrive lately. I don't want to burn out."
"I get it."
"Like I don't want to just write so much that I end up hating it. I don't know. I'll take a break after this."
"I was just gonna say. You need that balance."
Rose agreed.
"Yo, isn't your boyfriends album coming out tonight?"
"Abel?" Rose laughed. "Yeah, it's out tonight. I already heard the whole thing a while back."
"You staying in?"
"He invited me to an album release thing but I'm dead busy...so I don't know."
"If you need help with the writing I can come over later?"
"That'd be good. I need all the help I can get."
"Aight, I need to finish some stuff but I'll text you."
...
It was 8 pm, just on cue, Tyler opened the door.
"I thought I locked that shit?"
