I rubbed my eyes seeing a stream of sunlight shining through my window.
The memories of last night replayed in my head.
I shook my head. No. That's just a dream.... right?
*Beep*Beep*Beep*Beep*
I slapped my alarm clock button, groaning at the fact that its reality.
I went to the bathroom and took a quick shower, dressing in comfortable clothing to go for a run.
I left a note saying that I'll be back 10 minutes before I go to work and change into my casual clothes.
I put in my earphones, tied my shoelaces, did a few stretches, and then set off running.
I looked at the scenery as I ran. It made me feel as I'd I was in a whole another world. I kept running for about a mile or so and stopped at a familiar looking tree.
It was a tree. The tree that V and I used to hang around after school. I still see our initials carved onto one of the sides of the tree trunk. I walked over to sit by a nearby bench, but stopped when I saw two figures sitting in one across from it. I quickly hid behind the tree.
I peeked through the the side of the tree and saw V and Eunji and immediately pulled myself back behind the tree again.
"But why?! It was going so well!" I heard Eunji complain.
"Eunji, listen. It's not you, it's me. I don't feel the same way you feel about me. We're too different," V responded calmly.
"No! I know I can make it work. Trust me! Just give me a few days. I'll turn everything right again! I promise!" Eunji begged.
V just simply shook his head. "I never liked you since the beginning. If it wasn't for my mom forcing us to marry, I probably wouldn't have even talked to you."
Eunji started sobbing in disbelief. I suddenly feel guilty for eavesdropping.
She stopped crying suddenly and built up her courage. "It's because of Jihyun isn't it?"
My heart started beating faster.
"What does she have to do with this?" V questioned.
"Just answer my question," she demanded, sounding more angry than sad.
I decided that I didn't want to know the answer or listen anymore. I started to leave, but snapped a twig.
"Who's there?" Eunji asked.
I didn't answer. I could hear both of their footsteps walking closer, but I ran the opposite way.
I continued running until I saw my house and went inside. They probably only saw a black blur anyway.
I leaned onto the wall, gasping for air. Well, that's enough running for the day.
I looked at the clock. Work is starting in... 6 minutes!
I went to my room to change to brighter clothes and rushed out the door. I started sprinting to the cafe.
I heard the door bells jingle. I made it right on time.
I went to the back to put on my waitress outfit and stepped back out.
I heard the door bells jingle again as someone walked in again and I went to greet the customer. Turn out, it was -
"Welcome to th-" I started saying, but then stopped. "Eunji."
She gave me a fake smile and walked over the table we were arguing at a few days ago. I rolled my eyes at the sound of her high-heels.
