Two of a Kind

The ground shifted left and right in a repeated pattern causing the bodies to sway back in forth in time. Watching the men move back and forth against their own will was funny to watch and the young girl had to stifle her laughter as the identical girl next to her shook her head, almost afraid. The older girl let her smile grow as she peered above four barrels concealing their location. Any sound and they could be well dead in a matter of minutes. The hems of their lacy dresses were tied up in a knot in case of sudden movement and escaping isn't easy with a dress. The ground near them creaked causing their ears to twitch impatiently. The older girl tensed herself, ready to launch into defensive mode.

"Oi, why is there a human smell on this ship?" A musky voice resonated in front of the barrels the girls were lying behind. The man smashed his teeth together and paced back and forth past the barrels. His impatient could even be heard. The girls froze as they awaited his next movement.

"Is it possible for the human ambassador to have wandered down here?" A meek voice bravely spoke out against the seething anger. The man grunted and slammed his fist on the nearby wall.

"That...Human...what does she think she is? The Unknown are a far more advance race and she thinks she is a Queen!" The man spat and snared before storming up the staircase, fuming the entire way.

"Aria...can we please go! Kyrie isn't down here!" The younger girl pulled on the older's dress with one hand and tightened her hand on her knife. Aria nodded and without hesitation they set off for Kyrie.

It was rather annoying. Liam stomped his boots onto the cracked concrete with enough power to crack the stone with each step. He was the one who was to stop the rogue Unknown, not he himself be stopped. Did they think he was stupid?! A low growl trailed outwards from his mouth as he slammed his fists into the wall. The wall shattered into a million pieces, leaving only rubble to look at. He took a deep breath and turned his head around. Nusquam halted in his steps, waiting for Liam's next movement. Nusquam gave a short wave leading to a unneeded scoff from the man. Shrugging his shoulders, he quickened his pace and stood before Liam's eyes.

"I need to make sure you don't ruin anymore of the city! How about we get you your own personal punching bag?" Nusquam chuckled and quickly hurried along as Liam set off again.

"Are you volunteering?" Liam's eyes gave the same smirk his mouth did. Nusquam shook his hands as frantically as his face shifted emotions.

"Oh no, no! I think Naomi would love to, she's very agile and would give you a better chase than moi" Nusquam let out a cough, hiding his laughter. He heard Liam mumble about his loss before both froze instantly. Their ears strained for sound and received nothing.

"Do you hear that?" Liam tilted his gaze upwards before returning it to Nusquam who only shook his head.

"No I don't hear anything..." His mind processed more thoughts. There was no sound, at all. Without speaking the thought, both sprinted towards the Mess Hall. As they approached it, the cave light dimmed as the malachite lost its gleam. Something was definitely wrong. The Mess Hall doors which stood higher than anything else in the city, were closed. Both lowered their shoulders and rammed the door open an inch. The crowd inside was massive. Everyone in the city huddled up against the walls and swiveled their heads as the two entered the hall. Lying on the ground, was an old man.

"Elder!" Still in sync, the two lunged forward and went to one knee next to the man. Blood trailed the outside of his mouth while specks flew as he tried to speak.

"King of Unknown...I beseech you. Do not let the Unknown run rampant. They rebelled...the way is open...the death of a million humans has begun. Stop it. Stop it and restore the peace of the two worlds as your grandfather did before you." Liam's mind couldn't process fast enough until the old man's gaze went blank and his lips didn't quiver anymore.

He stood up, gaining a worried look from those around.

"Those that leave, will have a punishment worse than death." The wind around his feet shifted and his body and facial structure changed, leaving not the brunette haired and green eyed man but a light dirty blonde and red eyed boy. Time started to distort itself by shifting the flames and the furniture around. A light hand was placed onto his and the time distortion stopped but not before Liam sprinted out of the room, heading for daylight.

"The ship is stopping." One of the twins frowned slightly. Either they had been found out or this was a passenger ship. Either way, their plans were being modified every second. Kyrie was still missing in the great wood mass and the chatter of more people intensified. If she got off now, they were done. A low voice caused both the girls to stiffen. They twisted their neck to get a look at its owner. Kyrie stood with her back to them and was tapping her fingers against her arm. A small grimace stretched across her face as she was forced to converse with the deck hands. She was making small gestures and shapes with her other hand as if trying to get her point across.

"Ky-...!" Aria shot up but was pulled back by Anissa a moment later and found Anissa's hand on her mouth. Her voice was muffled as she tried to get Kyrie's attention. Anissa shushed her and continued to stare at Kyrie. Irked as she was, Aria clenched her mouth together and made a face at Anissa. Anissa couldn't take it and let out a chuckle. Moments later, bullets were flying above their head and momentarily stopped.

"Reveal yourself, stowaways." A husky voice reached out to them. Hesitantly, the two girls clasped hands and removed themselves from their hiding spot.

"Humans no less..." The man spat and snarled before turning back to Kyrie. He snapped at her in a different language and pointed fingers at the two girls.

"They are with me, good Unknown. They are my personal guides and we were separated two towns ago." Kyrie smiled gently and a thin line appeared at her forehead. As hard as she was trying, interaction just wasn't her thing.

"I said once again...Human...my name is Yatagarasu and if it weren't for my father, you'd be dead." With that last line, he turned on his heels and briskly walked away.

Alcohol scratched his chin as he slowly boarded the ship. This was where he wanted to be, out on the open sea. He searched around the wooden hull and found a man who looked like he was in his mid forties, staring at them. Between his fingers, was a coin that constantly moved between his digits. This man was dangerous in his own way. Alcohol knew that at least.
