The world spun lightly as the rays slammed down on the miners' backs. For three days they dug and dug and dug till the blisters on their hands rubbed raw and caused their hands to shake desperately. One of the miners rubbed his forehead with his muddy glove, leaving behind a hand print on his forehead. Sweat dripped onto their tools and only magnified the heat. With each swing, the grunts of the men grew until one collapsed and panted heavily. Another man immediately wrenched the fallen man to his feet and patted his shoulder, trying to comfort the man. The man only grunted and went back to mining.

"Oi, Randall! You finished yet? We wan' go home, man!" A man laced with a thick accent, shielded his eyes as he scanned the upper level of the ruins. A man only shook his head and pointed to the rocks once more. The men made a noise of dismay and went back to work. The man furthest away was an ogre of a man. Standing at seven feet tall with muscles rippling down his body, he was a giant. With each swing, pellets of rock shot everyone, yet not a trace of sweat lay on his body. He continued swinging until a small ping rang out into the sky. All the men stopped and swiveled their heads towards the noise. The man swung again till a baby blue metal shone brilliantly from the sun. The man's brow furrowed even more into his face as he continued attacking the stone till cracks aligned the entire face of the rock. The rock began to rumble as if awakened by the strikes and the wall soon collapsed. The man named Randall only whistled as he joined his fellow workers. A cave opening almost a mile high, now stood infront of them and was plagued by darkness. A small cackle was emitted from the opening and darkness shot out like a cannon and enveloped the miners. Only a scream echoed as the men disappeared. Three beautiful human-like creatures stood where the miners had just been. Each licked their lips and sighed happily.

"Freedom...oh it tastes so sweet. I want to eat that guy again. What a delectable taste. Shall we tell the elders we are free?" The oldest paced back and forth and smiled a gluttonous smile before heading back into the cave. The time of the Unknowns had begun.

A man rested uneasily on a chair made out of malachite. His mouth popped open a bit as three of his species pleaded to visit the outside world. Their eyes sparkled red and without hesitation the man snapped his  mouth shut. They had already feasted upon humans.

"Lia-" The man was cut off as the man turned sharply and treaded away as if on the prowl. His eyes glowered with anger till he stopped in the middle of the opening. The man named Liam tapped his foot impatiently before scratching his head lightly. He had his work cut out for him. Those Unknown would definitely escape and with others no doubt about that. Liam stormed the alleyways of the underground, passing beggars of all kinds staring at him with cold black eyes. In order to survive in this world, you had to fight and kill.

Aetas...that's what it was called...Aetas...that's what it would always be called.
