Pain. That was all William felt. His whole body ached and was numb everywhere but his feet.
How am I not dead?
He slowly, wearily opened his eyes. Blackness.
Great, I'm blind. Now what?
He tried moving parts of his body, finding that he could move all of his appendages. He lifted his head to look around him, discovering that he really couldn't see anything. He stood up, suddenly feeling the weight of the heavy animatronic suit bearing down on his rotted body. His knees buckled and he collapsed back down to the ground, groaning in pain and frustration.
This is gonna take a while.

Voices. The words were indistinguishable but there was definitely people outside of the room. William had walked the whole length of the room, finding it to be no bigger then a storage room.
There was no visible entrance except where the metal walls ended and wooden planks took up the space.
William could hear two men on the other side of the planks. He pressed his ear to the door, straining to catch a few words of conversation.

"Robots....smell.....musky scent."

"Fuckin' wires....gonna electrocute myself if I'm not careful."

The voices were coming closer and the words were clearer.

"This place is a frickin maze, can't find shit. They could at least put more lighting in here between shifts. Stumblin' round in the dark most of the time."

"True that."

A pause as footsteps came closer to the room. The two men were almost right outside the room now.

"You seen the rooms back here? Spooky as shit. The manager said they were old storage rooms where animatronics used to be stored. Smells like something died in there though."

"Yeah I have. Ain't that one of them there?"

"I dunno. I've never wanted to try and get in there in case I get in trouble."

"You wanna take a look? Nobody's around and we could actually find something interesting in there."

"Uh, well...I dunno man, we could get in serious trouble if we just break in there."

"Or we could get raises for finding something good! Come on, it's not like there's ghosts or anything in there."

William chuckled softly.
There isn't ghosts, but there are 'supposedly' dead bodies in animatronic suits. The man seemed to have come to a resolution.

"Fine, we'll just take a look. I mean, how bad could it be?"

"That's the spirit! Now let's take these planks off."

William stepped away from the door. He started to panic.
Oh God, what will they do if they find me in here? They'll probably ask a bunch of questions and I'll have to confess what happened those kids and I'll surely go to jail.
I'll just have to pretend to be a lifeless animatronic for the present and then try and escape later. For the moment, I can't let them find out what I am!
William moved to the back wall, sitting back onto the cold cobbles and hanging his head, imitating the lifeless nature of the robots. He closed his eyes and listened for when the men would enter the room.
The splintering of the planks echoed throughout the room, setting William's teeth on edge. The two men entered the room and seemed to examine William in front of them.

"Looks like that rabbit one, you remember him?"

"Hell yeah, he was my favourite. Got me hooked on guitar he did. But this one looks moldy and it's a different colour. I doubt this one is the same as the original one."

"That's true. If we showed boss this, do you think he'd promote us?"

"Probably. Finding intact animatronics is big, even in his book."

"Alright. I'll take the legs, you take the arms and we'll carry it out."

William's new location wasn't really better than the storage room. The two workers had carried him to a shelf just outside the exit door where he sat and watched the thrill seekers be spooked by the fake animatronics and jump scares.
I could of done way better.
He internally scoffed at the amateur work of the robots, finding it to be an insult to his work as an engineer that his craft be insulted like this.
All my hard work will never be appreciated because filth like this invades this world.

The day was pretty uneventful except for an incident where two girls tried touching his face and he snapped at them, sending them scurrying away and nearly tearing their arms off.
When the people finally left and it was just him and the night guard left, he decided to wander the premise. The layout was the same as the Freddy's he remembered, with some back rooms covered up and party rooms concreted over. The old robot heads and bodies were used as creepy decorations and attractions, with no sign of the original four animatronics or any of the others that William was used to.
The final room to visit, was the security room.
The room was adjusted to have air vents and one door with a viewing window in front of where the night guard should sit, though they weren't there.
Where are they? Probably lost.
He decided to wander back to his starting place, try and sleep until tomorrow, when the night guard came down the hallway. William froze and stepped back into a corner. The female night guard walked into the security room and sat in the chair, flicking up a screen and checking cameras and other things.
William watched them from the shadows, frowning.
I've become the animatronics, on a road paved with murder.
