Part 20

Zayns POV (when he left for pizza)

I walk out of the room, slightly upset I didn't get to finish my conversation with Ember. I take a deep sigh when I realize I didn't have a car.

I'm about to head inside before I spot a pizza place diagonal from the hospital. "I could walk that" I say quietly to myself and start my short walk.

I head inside the small place and see a cashier ready to greet me.

I order my pizzas as quickly as possible without being rude and take a seat in a waiting chair. My foot doesn't stop tapping the entire 20 minutes I'm waiting. I don't know why I'm so anxious. Maybe it's the fact that I'm the only one who knows about Embers dead child? Or the fact that once I get back, I'll have to tell her about it?

Finally, they call my name and I step up to the counter. I grab the pizzas with a quick thank you and head back to the hospital. I realize that I don't have any plates so I let out another annoyed sigh.

I continue my walk to the hospital, hoping against all odds they will have some paper plate  I'm allowed to use.

I step up to the counter and ask the man behind the desk whether he knows if they have paper plates.

"They probably have some down in the cafeteria" he says with a shrug.

"Ok, thank you" I answer before heading to the cafeteria, pizzas still in hand.

Luckily, it's not a long walk and I get there in 2 minutes or so.

I ask the first worker I see and they respond with a bored yes.

They tell me to stay put and I happily oblige since they're going to get me paper plates.

They come back quickly and almost shove the plates in my hand before stalking off in the direction of The kitchen.

I start my way back to the room. When I open the door, I can feel the tension in the air and silence fills the room.

I beak it with asking who's hungry and three of the boys nearly lunge at me. Liam stays put, staring intensely at Ember.

I hand ember a slice of pizza before heading back to get my own. Suddenly, Liam jumps up and walks over to me. He grips my arm and whispers in my ear.

"We need to talk" his voice comes out serious and frightening. I immediately become concerned and a little terrified. I push those feelings aside and plop my pizza down before heading to the hallway outside embers room.

"What's up?" I ask innocently, hoping it's something stupid, like maybe he found out I was the one who accidentally broke his PlayStation and not Niall?

He glares at me with an intensity that I've never seen before.

"Why the fuck is ember talking about her daughter?" Liam asks in a threatening tone, probably hoping I will deny it and look at him like he's crazy.

I can feel my face comfort into a guilty look that only enrages him more.

"I don't know how to start this conversation" I answer honestly.

"Does ember have a child? If so, where is it? Who's the dad? Why do you know about it? What the hell is going on?" He bombards me with questions that I dread answering.

I take a deep breath before responding to each of his questions in order.

"Yes, ember had a daughter. Her ex-boyfriend Jack. She told me on our first date because I pressured you. A lot. A lot is going on." I respond to almost all the questions, stupidly hoping he wouldn't notice the missing answer. Alas, luck was not on my side.

"Where is she?" He asks, sounding slightly shaky.

I glance around the room, avoiding eye contact. "She's kinda... not really.... living..... anymore" I say, not sure how to phrase it so it doesn't sound horrible, although it is.

His eyes widen and his hands begin to shake.

"What do you mean?" He questions, breathing slightly louder and voice quivering a little.

I sigh and rub my eyes before continuing.

"Her ex, jack, the little girls father, killed her" I say, well more like mumbled hoping he wouldn't hear me.

Evidently he did because his body goes rigid and he sucks in a big breath.

I look up at him and see his knuckles turning white from forming fists and his face is turning red from what I assume is anger.

All the sudden. He jumps up and stalks back into the room. I follow quickly, hoping he doesn't make a scene.

When I walk in, my attention goes immediately to ember who has Liam clinging to her.

"What did you guys talk about?" She questions as she looks at the big oaf attached her.

I let out a deep sigh, realizing I have to tell ember now.

"Guys, can you give us some privacy?" I ask turning towards the three other guys still stuffing their faces with pizza.

They quickly nod before grabbing the pizzas and rushing out of the room.

"Idiots" I mumble slightly before turning towards ember and Liam who are still hugging.

Ember look up at be confused. I pull a chair up beside her bed and hang my head for a second.

"I need to tell you about your daughter"
