"C'mon, c'mon" Sage whispered furiously at her DS screen. "Let's go Gengar!" She had spent half the night tossing and turning in her bed, and given up all hope of sleeping. Yelping as the other Pokémon attacked hers, Rachels voice rang out in the half empty apartment, "Sage shut up and go to sleep! If you insist on playing Pokèmon all night go outside and do it!" Her best friend yelled at her.
Sage huffed and grabbed a pillow and her black fuzzy blanket, clutching her DS in her teeth. She pulled the door open and stepped out into the dimly lit corridor, quietly cursing as the cold of the night came rushing at her. She plonked down her stuff on the carpeted floor and set up her pillow, leaning against the wall and spreading the blanket out on the huddled legs, then getting back into the game, "Yeah suck on that, evil Pidgeot," She yelled at the screen, quickly blushing as she realized how loud her voice was against the vast silence.
She heard a door further down the hall open and a tall, lanky figure came out. "What the hell are you doing out here?" He cursed tiredly coming down the hall. Sage rolled her eyes at the angry stranger and replied indignatly, "What the hell is your mum doing out here."
The figure quickly muffled his laugh and caught a glimpse of the screen, "Is that Pokèmon?" He questioned excitedly. "Yah" Sage said bluntly. "Ohh don't mind if I join you?" He brought out his DS.
Sage peered at him as he got closer, getting a better look at the stranger. He was wearing greyish track pants a black t-shirt, his messy brown hair swifted off to the side in a sort of beiber emo quiff. "Hey, I'm Dan," He introduced himself, "Whaddup," Sage nodded, "I'm Sage,"
As he sat down next to her, she felt his warmth radiate from his body and heat the air around him. Dan turned to look back at her, and the two bumped heads. "Oww sorry,"" He apologized, "Don't worry 'bout it" Sage reassured him. "After growing up with 3 older brothers, I have a pretty hard head." She joked. "Woah," Dan exsclaimed, "I wish I had some siblings, I'm an only child..." Sage chuckled, "You do not wish you had siblings," She laughed. A stray strand of hair brushed into her eyes as she laughed, "They're terrible..." She trailed off, Dan was staring right at her. Suddenly he picked up the strand of hair and looked at it. "Your hair... is blue!" He exclaimed, turning it over in his hands, "Awesome!" Sage smiled. Everyone though her hair was weird and unusual or that she was some rebel emo punk rock kid with a criminal record and dead parents. Well the last bit was right at least. She had dyed her hair from its natural brownish blonde and grew it out so that it just feathered her waist, in a plan to rebel against her pristine, posh foster parents.
"Haha, thanks," She laughed again. Jesus, she thought, I keep laughing. Dan gently set the hair back ontop of her messy bun and patted her head. "There ya' go," He blushed at the proximity between them, and looked back down. Sage chuckled at the now awkward atmosphere and blurted out, "Hmm that felt oddly intimate," Realizing what she just said, she froze and started to apologize. Dan however was laughing his butt off, his infectous surprisingly girlish giggle, caused Sage to burst out laughing as well. "Sorr-ry" She gasped between chuckles, "I'm kinda bad at talking to people," Dan laughed and agreed, "Oh my god, me too," Sage laughed again and high fived him, "Twinsies," they said together.
Not realising how much noise they were making, Rachel and Phil burst out of their apartments at the same time. "Would you guys shut u..." Rachel began, but then looking up to notice Phil. "Oh heeeeyy guys..." Dan trailed off, looking up at their two infuriated roommates. "Yo'...." Sage added. Phil rolled his eyes, and waved to Rachel, who replied with an inaudible sigh and a dreamy expression.
"Hey, wait a minute," Dan began, looking between them. "Phil? Is this the girl you were talking about?" Phil widened his eyes and shook his head quickly "Dan shhh," Dan raised his eyebrows teasingly, "You know, Phil, the one you said was really prett-" He was interrupted by Phil jumping up and clapping his hand over Dans mouth. "Uhhh..." Phil trailed off weakly.
"Well then," Sage laughed, "This has been interesting," She nodded. Rachel was red with embarrassment and quickly pulled Sage back into their apartment. "Sorry," She apologized to the boys,"We have to... talk for a minute." Rachel explained. Dan and Phil nodded and started talking.
Once back inside the apartment, Rachel paced the floor. "Omigosh. OMIGOSH!" She whispered excitedly, "Phil said I was pretty!" Sage raised her eyebrows, "Dude it's 2 a.m" She complained, "Wayy too early for this kind of excitement," Rolling her eyes, Rachel fixed her hair and smoothed down her pyjamas of singlet and trackies. "Who was that guy out there anyway, was it a friend of Phils?" She questioned. "Yah I think they live together," Sage remebered Phil coming out of the same door that Dan did. "Ooohh, why don't we invite them over for some cookies and hot cocoa," Rachel suggested excitedly. "Dude did you not hear me?" Sage poitned to the clock, "Its 2 a.m" "Whatever" Rachel rolled her eyes at her friends unenthusiasticness. "I'm going to go invite them," She said indignatly redoing her ponytail and heading out the door. Sage sighed at her friends stubbornness and went out the door aswell, excited to see Dan again.
