Rachel stood there, her before shining eyes had morphed into an expression of horror. "E-Eric," She stumbled. Her hand drew back from the door handle, curling into a fist at the her side. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" He said his mouth turning up slightly at the corners, the way it used to when he knew she was in fear, his eyes glowing maliciously. "Whoo is ittt" Sage called impatiently from the lounge room. Eric raised an eyebrow. "Still friends with Sage, I see," A furious expression flashed over his face suddenly, and Rachel took a step back. But in an instant, it was back to the same smirk. Memories washed over Rachel.
Sage was all she had. "She's a freak," Eric laughed one day in high school. "A weird nerd-orphan, don't hang out with her." He looked at her seriously. "You don't need any friends." He smirked. "You've got me. And I'm all you need." He then would take her by the lips, knocking out any logic that still lay in her mind.

Rachel shook herself out of the trance she was in and looked back up into Eric's eyes weakly.

"Rach, who is it?" Phil came around the corner. "I-uh-he," She stuttered looking between them. Eric stepped into the apartment. "I'm her boyfriend," he announced. Phil dropped his jaw, looking shellshocked. He looked at Rachel, who looked as horrified as he did. "Well then," Phil replied curtly, shaking himself out of the daze, sliding past Eric, walking quickly out the door and slamming it shut. "Phil-" she began calling after him, but a cold arm slid around her waist protectively and pulled her close into his muscular torso. "Isn't that right, Rachey girl," He smiled, and iron grip developing around her waist.

"Ugh," Sage groaned to Dan in the lounge room. "Whats taking them all so long," She complained, scooching over next to Dan. "I wanna go back to bed already,". Dan smiled gently and looked down at the beautiful girl resting upon his shoulder. "Hey um Sage," He stumbles. She straightened up and looked at him. "Y-yeah?" She asked tentatively. "I was just wondering um," he stuttered. Sage leaned in closer. "Go on," She urged, anxious to hear. Dan leaned in next to her. "I was just wondering..." She leaned in more. "If um..," he leaned in, their noses almost touching. They stared into each others eyes, completely mesmerized. Suddenly they were about to kiss. Sage bit her lip hesitantly, making her look even more irresistible. Dan lowered his eyes to her lips, getting closer. Then suddenly- SLAM.

A door slammed shut. They pulled apart quickly, blushing. "I-sorry," Dan stumbled, still slightly shocked from their proximity. We almost just kissed! He thought to himself, entranced by Sage who was staring up at Dan, her grey eyes shining. Sage sighed gently and then slowly lifted up from the plush couch, with a backward glance at Dan who looked aggravated and dreamy.

"Um well we'd better see what's going on," Sage cleared her throat, standing up. Dan hesitantly agreed, and they quickly hurried to where the commotion was.

"How dare you!" Rachel yelled at Eric. "How dare you come here and ruin everything like you always do!" She screamed. A surprised expression washed over his face. She had never stood up to him like that before let alone yelled at him. Shaking himself out of shock he smiled and started towards her, a malicious glint in his eye. "You do not speak to me like tha-!" He was cut off by a familiar converse shoe flying through the air and hitting him straight in the head, with a thud.

He fell to the floor clutching his head in pain. Rachel looked over to Sage, frozen, the matching shoe in her other hand. Sage was breathing heavily, looking over at Eric's collapsed body in fury. Dan quickly raced up behind her and took a look at the scene. "Oh my god," He breathed, looking over at Eric then looking back at Sage then back at Rachel. He quickly dashed to help Eric, poking him hesitantly. "Who is he," Dan turned towards Rachel. "M-my ex," Rachel mumbled, still shaken about what could've happened if Sage hadn't intervened. She remembered the evil look in his eye. Dan was shocked for a second, then nodded, understanding. "Wait," Sage spoke for the first time. "Where is Phil?" Dan looked at Rachel again desperately worried for his best friend. "He-uh ran out the door, when Eric said he-" she sighed. Dan didn't push her any further and nodded. "Okay, I'll uh call him."
