Daku focused his attention on the quickly darkening sky, seeing rain come drizzling down. Yui came up beside him and glanced up, but she grabbed him by the arm and hurried under the small roof of the door. She sighed as Daku stared blankly at her. Daku is... Pretty strange.

Even though she isn't much younger than him and was raised alongside him, he remained a mystery to her. He had so many flaws, not having a voice being one of them, so...

Just how did he deal with it?

She shook her head at the swirling thoughts and grabbed the door knocker and knocked on the door. "Hello!" Daku glanced at the doorknob and then at her. His neutral frown turned into a small frown of confusion. Yui didn't notice at first but when she did, he got closer, as if he was saying something with his body language.

The blonde didn't pay humanly mind and reached for the doorknob, but she stopped short when she saw the door open slightly on its own. Daku only shook his head as she frowned at him. "Cut that out! It's not like you can anyway, but I don't need you to protect me!"

Daku's face fell as she took the doorknob and walked right in. He stared down at his hands before hardly moving any fingers at all. His stomach sunk and he tightened his clutch around the two bags in his arms. That really hurt.

Abruptly, a crack of thunder startled him and he scurried into the large residence. As much as he hated trespassing, he didn't see anyone nearby, at all. And even then, if he did, there was nothing he could say. There were more than often days where Daku felt cursed and useless.

Yui wondered how he was able to live with the fact of never speaking and never using his hands, but in reality, he didn't. He was always miserable and depressed. He had to make an effort to read any books or comics, he couldn't do things he's always wanted to do.

He had to use his arms or elbows if he really had to do something. It was hard to eat and drink, and it sucked going to school. He was constantly picked on for being special and having help with every single thing.

That's why he hated being treated differently by anyone. It broke him every time someone treated him like he couldn't handle himself, even if he actually couldn't, but he couldn't say that either...

The sound of Yui calling out for someone, or anyone for that matter, snapped him out of his sad thoughts. "Excuse me, is anyone home?" He turned to shut the door behind him, but he heard the click of it shutting softly behind him and he let it be. Well, either way, Yui would introduce him and herself, so he walked past her and glanced around the large greeting room.

The chandelier above him was beautiful and the stairwell was very wide, and the carpet looked very plush under him. It was also extremely long, it was all one carpet that led up and broke off to both sides of the higher steps. Off to the sides at the bottom of the stairs were couches and rather clean windows.

He saw flashes of lightning outside, and he frowned. An awful thought crossed his mind.

I wish that lightning bolt struck me. Maybe I can finally be free of this curse.

"That's funny. Maybe they weren't told we were coming today... Hello!"

Daku sighed at how loud she was being. This wasn't her home, she shouldn't be yelling. He watched her look around and followed her when she spotted a person laying down on one of the couches. She jogged over to the male she saw.

"Um, excuse me." She bent her legs to lean down and grab his hand, but when just her fingertips touched his hand, she instantly retracted it. "You're cold!" She bent down entirely now as Daku bit his bottom lip and put her ear to his chest. "Are you okay?"

He didn't like where this was going. Something told him that this boy wasn't as human as they were. "He has no pulse! Oh, no! I have to call an ambulance!" Yui leaned and reached for her bag, getting out her cellphone. She flipped it open and barely started typing in the numbers when a hand snatched it out of hers.

"Damn, you're noisy." The red-haired boy sat up, opening his eyes and looking at her. "This isn't your house so be quiet." Yui stood up and backed away as to not lose any more items of hers. "Y... You're alive!"

"Of course I'm alive. What do you think I am?"

A vampire, Daku thought. The cold had given him away. "But your heart was stopped." Yui backed up as the boy glanced at Daku who seemed uneasy with the fact that vampires did exist. How many lived here? Are ant kf them related?

The male suddenly grabbed Daku's wrist and pulled him under him, trapping him in between his arms with his bags falling to the floor in the process. Daku was startled and even struggled with his legs, just as Yui gasped in bewilderment.

"W-Wait a minute, Daku isn't--" The male glanced back at her before turning back to Daku, seemingly knowing what she was going to say, and leaned down, licking up the front of his neck. Yui flushed red as Daku's cheeks went tomato red.

Just as the male was about to bite into his neck, a voice stopped him.
