~Kennedy~
"Should I wear this?" my best friend Delilah held a floral tank top up to her denim shorts,
"Or this?" she showed me a polka-dotted crop top.
"Del, those are both mine," I paused for a second, "Floral tank top"
She gave me a cheeky grin and threw it on. I zipped up my old canvas duffel bag as she threw her backpack over her shoulder. We hooked arms and skipped into the living room.
"Bye mom! Adios Paul! Hurry up Cody!" I screamed.
"Kennedy, Paul already left for work" my mom announced as she walked out of her room.
"Without saying goodbye?!" I wailed and fake cried while Delilah giggled.
"Kennedy! Use your church voice!" my mom scolded.
"With all due respect, Ms. Washington, you guys don't go to church, therefore Kennedy doesn't know what that means" Delilah responded.
My mom laughed and pulled us both into a hug, "I'm going to miss you girls."
"Don't worry mom, I'll take care of them" my older brother, Cody announced as he walked out of his bedroom.
"We don't need to be taken care of" I grumbled as Cody gave mom a hug.
"Bye Ms. Washington! See you at the end of the summer!" Delilah called as the three of us left the apartment and entered the elevator.
"Have fun at camp!" she cried as the elevator doors shut.
"Delilah, don't you wanna say goodbye to your mom?" Cody questioned.
"She won't be home," Delilah said quietly.
Cody and I exchanged a look as the elevator doors opened to the lobby. The three of us walked out to the curb.
"The camp bus should be here in about five minutes" Cody announced.
"Three, two, one" the bus turned the corner and stopped in front of us as Delilah reached one. We all laughed and hopped onto the bus. Cody sat in the front with his friend Todd.
"Sup Todd." I nodded at Todd. Todd nodded back in response.
Delilah and I marched straight to the back. We collapsed in our seat.
"Music?" D asked.
"Music." I yanked out my earbuds and we each put one in.
"COS IN THE BACK OF THE ROOM WHERE NOBODY LOOKS, SHE'LL BE WITH HER BOYFRIEND; SHE'S NOT READING BOOKS" We sang beautifully.
"Will you shut up?" The school's bad boy, Zayn glared at us from the seat across.
"Do you have an issue? Huh? HUH?" I shouted, doing crazy rapper arms.
"Ken, stop," Delilah whispered in my ear.
Zayn looked confused. After staring at me for a few seconds, he shook his head and turned back around.
Before I knew it, we arrived at Camp Haiwatha. Delilah and I retrieved our bags from the back of the bus and went to the check in table to get our cabin number and our schedules.
"Delilah, what cabin are you in?" I asked. I really hoped we were in the same cabin.
"4" she answered, "You?"
"5" I groaned. "Maybe our schedules are similar."
"Let's see" Delilah held her schedule next to mine.
Mine looked like this,
Arts and Crafts
