three days later, it was jungkook's first day at work. and throughout those three days he spent more time with taehyung to help him with the preparations for the opening.
jungkook was certain now that he's crushing on taehyung. he didn't mind the age gap between them, but he knew that the older saw him as nothing more than a kid, maybe a friend too but definitely a kid friend. so he had to find a way to prove to the other that he's not a baby.
"are you excited for your first day?" taehyung asked jungkook who was putting his apron on with a huge smile on his face.
"it's your first day here too, you know." jungkook said and smiled at taehyung who was struggling to tie his apron after many years still.
he walked to taehyung and took the ends from his hands to tie it for him, "and you say i'm the kid." jungkook said before he turned taehyung around to face him, "you're so cute taehyung." he said and pinched his cheeks.
taehyung blushed slightly and removed jungkook's hands away from his face.
"i'm older than you jungkook. so if anything you're the cute one." taehyung said and ruffled the other's hair."age is just a number. it doesn't mean anything. and i say you're really cute."
"are you flirting with me right now?" taehyung asked.
"maybe. is there a problem?" jungkook asked innocently.taehyung looked at him and raised an eyebrow, "you're pretty straightforward. and indeed there's a problem. i'm ten years older than you. you don't need someone like me, you can get anyone who's as young as you."
jungkook smiled at that, "thank god that's the only problem you see, i thought you were gonna say you're straight or something."
taehyung couldn't help but chuckle at that, "i'm not straight but that doesn't mean i'm right for you, jungkook."
"are you taken?" jungkook asked, as if taehyung didn't just deny him like that.
taehyung turned and walked away, "you're really stubborn, aren't you?"
"are you taken?" jungkook repeated, smile still present on his face. "i'm not. now go behind that counter and stop wasting time." he ordered in a harsh tone and jungkook chuckled, "so cute." he said before walking behind the counter and started working.at 9pm they were cleaning everything and jungkook definitely was tired. many people came to the opening which means many orders were made which means more work for him, but he couldn't help the smile that spread across his face when he heard taehyung talking to him, "i'm so happy many people came today! they all gave positive comments about my pastries!" he said with the biggest grin ever.
"of course they'll like your pastries. i heard that your old cafe was really popular, hmm?" jungkook said and taehyung looked at him, "it was. people loved it there! it was cozy and warm, just like this one." taehyung smiled.
"why did you move all the way here? you seem like you loved that place." jungkook commented and taehyung nodded, "i needed some change, i think. things weren't too perfect there."
"you can talk to me, if you want." jungkook assured, trying to be nice.
"it's nothing deep and nothing you should worry about. i just wasn't comfortable there anymore, and i needed to move.""i'm glad you did. or else i wouldn't have met you." jungkook winked at him playfully but he felt his cheeks burning. shit, was he blushing like some teenager would when their crush talked to them?
jungkook chuckled at his red cheeks, "you're such a cutie." he said, "i'll get going now then, do you need anything?" he continued when he realised taehyung wasn't gonna reply to his compliment.
"i'm fine, be careful on your way back." taehyung smiled at him. "you too." jungkook replied before walking out of the cafe and heading home.
