it's the 30th of december, also known as taehyung's birthday. jungkook woke up early to prepare breakfast for the two of them. it took him over an hour to finish everything before he was placing a little note on the tray next to the pancakes he made.
jungkook walked into his shared room with taehyung and saw that the latter is still sleeping. it was almsot 11am and taehyung usually wakes up early. so he set the tray on the nightstand and walked over to sit next to taehyung after placing a soft kiss on his forehead. "wake up princess. it's 11am already." jungkook whispered above the older's head who slowly opened his eyes, before shaking his head and covering his head with the blanket. "i don't wanna get up today." taehyung mumbled from under the covers which had jungkook chuckling a little.
"hmm, and why's that?" he asked and saw taehyung peeking a little from under the blanket with a pout, "i just don't wanna."
jungkook took hold of the blanket before slowly removing it, "what's wrong baby?"
just then, jungkook noticed the tears in taehyung's eyes. "oh baby, what happened? come here." jungkook pulled him into a sitting position before hugging him. taehyung quickly hugged back and fisted the other's shirt with his hands. "it's my birthday and i just wanna sleep all day." he whispered into the other's chest.
"why would you wanna do that? it's a special day today, we should celebrate your birthday, not sleep all day." jungkook said as the other shook his head. "i'm getting old, i'm 36 already. what if you get bored of me?" taehyung mumbled with a sniffle before he felt jungkook remove him slowly away from his chest just to look at him.
"where's that coming from? i don't want to ever hear you say something like that again, you hear me? don't you ever think like that. i loved you with the age gap between us. so what? you're thirty six now and i'm 26. ten years are still ten years, they didn't become more just because it's your birthday today. and thirty six isn't old. you're still my little baby. you'll always be my little baby even when you're about to become 80 years old, okay?" jungkook said as he looked straight into the other's eyes. "so you shouldn't wanna sleep all day, we're celebrating today and i don't wanna see you pouting at all."
taehyung moved away a little to wipe his tears and smiled softly, "i love you so so much." he whispered before hugging jungkook again who hugged him back tightly and kissed the top of his head, "i love you so so much too."
jungkook then pulled away slightly, "let me see your pretty smile now, i prepared your favourite breakfast." he said as he pointed at the tray on the nightstand.
taehyung smiled at him before bringing the tray to put it on his lap as he started eating, but jungkook took the fork away from his hand, "let me feed my little baby."
that day, they went out to the amusement park, tried every ride even if taehyung was just a tiny bit scared, then they went to their favourite restaurant before they were walking hand in hand to the park they first met at.
"we always come back here." taehyung said with a little chuckle, "we met here, this is kinda our place." jungkook replied before he pointed at the bench they sat on that day too.
"i haven't given you my gift yet." jungkook said and taehyung looked at him, "you've given me the best day of my life today, i think that was the best gift." taehyung said as he laid his head on jungkook's shoulder.
jungkook pouted a little, "does that mean you don't wanna see my gift?" taehyung sat up straight then kissed jungkook's pout away. "of course i do."
jungkook smiled softly, "good, now close your eyes."
"you have it here with you?" taehyung asked surprised because be haven't seen jungkook holding any bags with him.
jungkook just nodded before asking taehyung to close his eyes again, which he did. he then pulled a small box from his pocket. he opened the box before asking taehyung to open his eyes again.
taehyung looked at the box and saw two identical rings before he smiled widely with tears in his eyes. "i know we haven't been together for that long, but i want to promise you right now that i want to share my life with you. i wanna give you the promise of being by your side on the bad before the good." jungkook chuckled a little, "god i sound like i'm proposing." taehyung giggled at that as he wiped his tears.
jungkook took one of the rings in one hand and taehyung's hand in another, he kissed taehyung's hand before sliding the ring on his finger, "this is a promise ring. this is my promise for you of always being with you." taehyung shook his head before smiling again, "you're amazing." he said before he took the other ring from the box then sliding it on jungkook's finger, "this is the best gift i've ever received in my life." taehyung whispered, "i love you."
jungkook smiled at him, "i love you too. happy birthday princess."
