That night, Tracey waited until the other girls in the dorm went to sleep to sneak to Clara's bed, "Hey," She whispered. Getting no response because it was the middle of the night, Tracey shook Clara and tried again, "Hey," She hissed.
Blinking awake, Clara frowned at her best friend in confusion, "Why..."
"Come on, I need to talk to you, follow me." Sighing, Clara slipped on her slippers and followed Tracey to the girl's bathroom. Once they were there and Tracey was satisfied that no one was in the bathroom, she whirled around to face Clara, "Why did you react like that when you found out Sirius Black broke out?" She asked instantly, holding up a finger when Clara went to speak, "And don't say it was nothing, you told me last year when you heard voices in the wall, that actually ended up being a giant snake so you should trust me to tell me this."
"Are you done?" Tracey nodded, "I was shocked because my dad didn't tell me, and Sirius Black is my godfather, so I thought that I had a right to know." Clara admitted, leaning against the sinks with her arms crossed.
Eyes widening, Tracey gasped in shock, "No way, you're godfather's a murderer? Isn't that kinda cool, though? Like, don't mess with me, or I'll send my mass-murdering godfather to kill you and everyone in your house tonight while you sleep."
"Tracey!" Clara complained, fighting off a grin because, yeah, that was something that only Tracey could think to say in this situation. "Seriously! It's kinda scary, like what if he tries to visit me and recruit me to the dark side?"
Mulling it over, Tracey shrugged, "I don't know. I mean, you would never be a Death Eater, so there's really no worries there, it'll take a lot more than baked goods to convince you to work for you-know-who. I guess if you see him, just scream and run the other way? It seems like a legit option to me."
Both girls met eyes and then just started hysterically laughing, "Baked goods? Really?" Clara asked Tracey between laughs.
"I don't know!" Tracey replied before gaining composure and walking up to her best friend, "But seriously, if you see Sirius Black, just run away. We aren't Gryffindors for a reason; we are smarter than taking on mass murderers on our own."
Nodding, Clara smiled at her friend, "I know, I won't confront Sirius Black. Do I really look that stupid?"
"No, but your crush is that stupid."
"What? Who are you talking about?!"
Tracey raised her eyebrows and grinned at her best friend, "I saw those looks you and Potter were sharing during dinner,"
Eyes widening, Clara hit Tracey's arm, "What looks?! There were no looks!"
"If you say so," Tracey said, walking towards the door, "But personally, I would describe the constant staring as looks."
"Potter was staring at me, not the other way around! God, you are insufferable!" Clara huffed, pulling the door open as she stormed past Tracey and ran straight into Professor Snape. "Uh-oh."
"What's- oh," Tracey said as she paused at the look on Snape's face. "Uh, hello Professor, what are you doing at this time of night?"
"Funny, I believe I was about to ask the two of you the same thing." He drawled, crossing his arms as he stared down the two girls with an unimpressed scowl, "Well?"
Looking between each other, both girls gaped, not sure what to say before Clara spoke up, "Um, we were going to the bathroom."
"And that task requires both of you to go after curfew?" Snape asked, cocking an eyebrow.
