Last night was exhausting. I took Danny to the ER so he could get stitched up.
Steve and Aj were still trying to figure out who would try to rob him.
"Any luck?" I asked.
Aj shook her head no. ''Nothing yet. Whoever did this was very clean about it.''
I sighed. Whoever did this doesn't know Steve well.
"We got a break. There is prints on the knife that was used." Aj said.
"Who?" I asked.
"Someone named Wo Fat." She said.
"Did you just say Wo Fat?" Steve asked.
"Yeah.''
Steve turned pale and clenched his jaw.
"Steve are you okay?" I asked.
''I haven't heard his name since our dad died.'' He said.
"Why would he show up now?" I asked.
''I still have dads toolbox that has something of his.''
That's crazy how he just showed up after all these years.
''Well he messed with the wrong people.'' Aj said.
"He's probably long gone now. He won't be back.'' Steve said sighing.
I went over to Steve and hugged him. I feel bad that I wasn't here for all of this.
*later in the day*
''Aunt Katie push me.'' Callie said trying to swing.
I smiled and went over to her and pushed her. She started laughing. Man I miss her laugh and smile so much.
"She misses you like crazy Katie.'' Aj said.
''I know she does. I'm just not ready to leave Chicago yet.'' I said.
Aj rolled her eyes. "You need to get away from there like I needed to Katie.''
I sighed. "You're probably right.''
"I'm always right.'' She said.
''Dinner's ready.'' Danny said.
Callie jumped off of the swing. ''I'll race you aunt Katie.'' She said.
"You're on.'' I said.
Callie got a head start and I ran as well but we both got our butts beat by Aj as always.
"I win.'' She said smiling.
*after dinner* *Aj's pov*
I sat at Steve's table and began to drink some whiskey. I'm in a mood and thought from that night are pouring in. I took a big gulp and watched the tv.
''Aj seriously?" Katie asked.
''Got anything better to help me?'' I asked.
''Yeah how about your daughter who is upstairs sleeping, how about your brother, how about your best friend.'' She said.
I took another drink before Katie grabbed it out of my hand.
''Really.'' I said.
''This isn't healthy for you. You're slowly falling apart Aj.''
''You don't know what the hell is going on. You don't live here, you're to stuck up Antonio's ass or wait is it Adam's?'' I asked.
"Wow Aj, real mature." She said rolling her eyes.
''Whatever, I'm out of here. I'll come get Callie back in the morning.'' I said grabbing my keys and heading out to Beast.
Tears began to fall down my face as I headed to my apartment.
Why do I always hurt the people I love? Why do I always push away the people that love and care about me? I'm just a screwup in life.
