Chapter 6 : Life Without Hannah

Day 2 of our lives without Hannah. I walk down the streets to our school listening to my favorite playlist of the moment. The sun is still shining and it's the best feeling ever. It just makes us believe the summer hasn't finished yet. Suddenly, a huge tap on my back makes me nearly die, Zach.

"I swear, I'm going to kill you, Zachary Jones." I yell at the guy laughing his ass out.

"It's so funny! You nearly died, didn't you?" He points at me proud of his effect.

"Jason, how is he your best friend?" I chuckle at my friend's behavior.

"I ask myself the same thing every morning..." Jason laughs too.

"Oh, oh, look at that." Zach wiggles his eyebrows to me. "Blake's new girlfriend is here. Might we leave, Mister Miller?"

"Certainly, Mister Jones." The boys speak as if they were royal people. "Hey, Victoria, have a nice day and take care of my best friend." Jason smiles.

"Good Morning, fed's daughter. Hope your dad will help us cancel this day of school too."

"Very funny, guys." I intervene. "Go to class and leave her alone."

"Yes, ma'am." They laugh and we do too.

"Sorry about them, did you enjoy your evening yesterday?" I smile to Victoria.

"Of course, after a town tour like I had, I couldn't stop dreaming about it..." She smirks. "Or, maybe, it was the girl who made me visit the town that I was thinking about."

"Did you?" I say happily. "Think about me, I mean."

"She did." The Agent Martinez stands behind his daughter. "She couldn't stop smiling."

"Dad..." Victoria blushes. "What are you doing here?

"You forgot to bring your lunch pack, they didn't accept your cafeteria request, yet." The man explains.

"Oh, yeah, shit, sorry, dad." Victoria kisses his cheek.

"You could have come with us at the SmithLady, it's the real first day of school, Mary is going to cook her famous "back to school" lunch. It's kind of a tradition to go."

"Seems good to me, I'll take your lunch." The Agent Martinez says. "Thank you, Blake. I like to see how great you are with my daughter."

"No problem, sir." I smile. "I want her to feel welcome here."

"And, you do it very well." Victoria looks at me sweetly.

"I'll go. See you tonight, baby." John Martinez leaves.

"He's always scared about my well-being..." Victoria almost apologizes.

"Don't worry, I've got the same one at home." I smile. "Do you know which class you'll be in?"

"No idea... but the Principal Miller told me to refer to, and I quote, one of the best students in the school, so... which class do you have, Miss Williams?"

"Did he say that?" I frown. "I'm not even that good..."

"Let me be the judge, then." Victoria smirks.

"I see, Daddy is a fed, so little Victoria wants to be a judge?" I tease.

"I thought we said no Dad jokes..." She frowns. "But, really, I feel like being a fed too. I want to be on the bright side."

"Is he?" I quickly answer, too quickly.

"What does that mean?" Victoria seems hurt.

"Nothing, it was just a too quick and unthoughtful answer, sorry." I apologize with a smile. "Anyway, are you ready?"
