As everyone filed out of the tennis court, I brought out my phone and crossed out tennis on my notes as well. A quick scroll up and there was another page of crossed out sports. And, those were the ones that still had their tryouts available on the second week. I moaned out in misery and collapsed onto my knees, ignoring the strange looks of people passing by. Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared into the sun. Curse you, God! I shook my fist at the sky with silent hatred.
How is it that I'm this bad at sport?! Tennis, badminton, football, netball, track, athletics, fencing, archery and cricket. I've worked tirelessly to make at least some of each tryout and yet I still didn't get into a single one! And, I thought I was a generally athletic person! Why God?!
I think I only managed to get into the gymnastics teams because of all my years of experience in it. Otherwise, I would've screwed that up as well. Now I finally get what they mean by the competitiveness and difficulty of extra-curricular in Truven Academy. It's like they already expect you to be a professional before coming into trials!
Well, that was my entire Wednesday morning wasted. After my failure to join the cheerleading squad on Tuesday, I didn't waste a moment to find out what was left. I thought I had this in the bag, but my plan was already falling apart. And, I acted so cocky about it as well!
"So, what'd she say?!" Miyuki demanded as soon as I came back from my chat with Michelle. The depressed downcast of my eyes gave her the answer she was looking for. A scoff left her mouth as she rested her hands on her hips. "Alright, that settles it, then!" She declared, perking my gaze up to her. A frown settled on her mouth as she stared down at me firmly. "If you're not part of the team, then neither am I!" I snapped my eyes open. What? Miyuki was already charging back towards the gym where Michelle and the rest of the squad were helping the coaches pack up. "I'm gonna go in there right now and tell that blonde, blank-faced bimbo-"
"Wait!" I called out, leaping for her arm and yanking her back.
"What?!" Miyuki spat, displeased. "I'm serious! The only reason I agreed to join was because of you!" She claimed, pulling her arm back and continuing her stampede. "If you're not going to be in the squad then there's no reason for me to be in it either!"
I tried again and shoved in front of her before she could reach the gymnasium door. "Miyuki, cool it!" I hissed harshly, aware that I had to fight fire with fire when it comes to her. She ground her teeth together but backed off and crossed her arms.
"Alright, then, go ahead. Change my mind, Nicki," she grumbled, tilting her head away. I sighed and leaned against the door. Well, at least I got her to calm down.
"Miyu, it's essential you have a spot on the squad. They're basically the head bitches of the school!" I reasoned, swearing for emphasis. She clicked her tongue in annoyance.
