It's the start of another week at Truven Academy - a perilous one at the looks of it. The last two weeks have been chaotic and dragging as we were thrust into to this unfamiliar, toxic wasteland of fucking predators that will maul you to pieces, and vultures that pick on their leftovers.
I haven't even gotten the worst of it and I already felt exhausted with this school. The cheerleaders were spoilt brats that took their stupid training way too seriously. I wasn't even allowed to eat whatever I wanted anymore because they wanted me to stay in shape if I wanted to stay on the team.
A pensive sigh left my lips as I stared across the cafeteria as I usually did to Nicki. She was chatting away happily with that fucking Kater-whatever Draco Malfoy girl. God, she pissed me off so much. Her lunch table of friends looked just as pretentious and oh-so-perfect as she did. Since when the hell did Nicki get that friendly with girls like her anyways? With all the composed temperament and light baggage she has. That's a clear sign of naivety. I bet she gets everything handed to her and knows nothing but the flowers and sunshine on her side of the rainbow.
I scoffed under my breath, darkening my glare to laser into her skull. Stupid girl. Nicki wouldn't even have to waste her time with you if I wasn't sitting with other people to spread good words about her. So, don't get too comfortable.
Whatever, it's not like she'll ever really cause any threat to our friendship, so I shouldn't pay her much mind. So, to distract myself, I drifted my observative gaze all the way across to the other side of the broad space of the cafeteria. At a table near the inner middle sat Dominic - who no one would've seen that close to the centre of the cafeteria a little over a week ago. His genius skills in basketball had earned him the favour of the school's S-team captain, Dimitri Stepanov - a total jock but incredibly likeable given his rowdy and friendly attitude towards everyone. I know a lot of girls that a salivating at the fact that the two biggest hotties in the basketball teams are sitting with each other. It's basically free eye candy at lunch to see them interacting after all.
I don't even know if half his fangirls have genuine feelings towards him, but regardless, it had certainly become a trend now to simp for this newly, revamped Dominic. And, this school was all about hopping on its trends.
Meanwhile, I was surprised Dominic was even here for starters and I'm pretty sure Nicki was just as startled when we passed by him this morning. They were still on awkward terms but I guess she must've gotten through to Jake.
And, speaking of Jake...
I peeked over to the table area nearing the centre, no, he was basically the centre - centre of attention, at least. Surrounded by the elites of this school, he already looked top dog. Well, I supposed he probably received training in even these kinds of things when he was over in England for the last ten years.
Jake's popularity had skyrocketed as soon as he had arrived. The rumoured first son of the Chief Director did not live down to everyone's expectations and stirred the school into a frenzy. Girls were crazy over his natural good looks and physic whilst the boys couldn't even envy him given how impeccable Jake's social skills were. I really didn't understand what all the hype about him was until I saw it for myself.
