Chapter 1.1: Girl Meets Girl
"Would you please stop crying? For crying out loud, it has been three days and you're still crying over that worthless shit!" My best friend Lena said in an appealing but at the same time grating voice that made me flinch and cry louder at the same time.
"Did you notice that you have said the word 'crying' three times already?" I responded between sob. She just shrugged and handed me a box of tissues. "Thanks..."
"Well that's the last box! And I ain't going to let you buy another one." She crossed her arms and slouched on my sofa.
Lena has been my friend since middle school. We were neighbors and grew up together. Our families also shared a close tie since we moved to this city when my father was promoted as senior partner at a law firm.
"Thanks." I blew my nose and threw the used tissue in the trashcan near me that was already full of used tissue. I felt guilty thinking of the trees that were used to make those tissues. However, I can't help it since I have a fragile heart. I took another piece and wiped my eyes. They were full of bags and I'm sure that they were already red.
Lena looked at my pathetic self and just sighed. She knew me since forever and I'm thankful that she's always here for me.
"Chelsea..." She began. "He's not worth of your tears. He's just a scumbag you uses people for his own benefit. He saw your kindness and took advantage of it."
"Thanks bestie."
She hugged me tightly as she console my heart. "This is the part where I should say 'I told you so'"! We released the hug and chuckle at my misery. She's right... He's a worthless shit and does not worthy of my precious tears.
Kevin and I dated for six months before I finally believed that he was just using me for grades. We were seniors now and I knew that his grades were really bad that he might not be able to graduate with us. My friends told me about his reputation but he was full of charm and was a sweet talker. One word was all he needed to make me fall under his spell.
He already had a reputation in being a playboy and a user but because I'm such a hopeless romantic and believed in the goodness of all people that I gave him a chance. He would open the door for me, he would give me flowers and chocolates and he would take me out on dates while telling me sweet words that sent chills to my spine and made my heart skip a beat. Little did I know...it was all an act.
I just realized that he only ask me for dates when we have a big project. He would give me flowers or chocolates to do his assignments and he would only act chivalrous in front of my friends so he can get their vote but his charm didn't work on my best friend. She saw right through him.
He's a certified user.
Other than using me for grades, he would sometimes ask me for money. Then I realized that most of our dates were paid by me. It's either he forgot his wallet or he lost it.
Then I found out from Lena that the flowers were taken from the green house of the 'green thumb' club. He'd sneaked there and stole a few roses then would give to me. And the chocolates were from his sister who has a lot of admirers that gives her tons of chocolate.
I'm such a fool.
Lena and our other friends told me about his side girl but I still believed in him. He managed to sweet talk me into believing that it was all just a plot against him until last Friday when I caught him in the act.
I wasn't feeling too well due to stomach cramps so I excused myself from class. The hallway was quiet since class was on going and it was when I heard a soft moan. Curiosity had gotten into me so I followed the sound until I reached the janitor's closet.
