Away from hell

"I wonder if i could find a job here in this library.."

He stared at her for a couple of seconds,

Maybe she is a homeless girl, not to be rude but who live with this much bruises?

"A job?" 

"Yeah, a job"

He spends some time thinking, and look up and down to the girl "Ah you can help me here at the bookstore, meanwhile, you can read all the books from my library"

"I can teach you how to use the cashier machine" he said.

"I am actually looking for someone who do that so thank you for asking" He said.

His eyes was friendly, his voice was warm, and he feels like home, she thought. Especially now she is in this paradise of book, somewhere she can relax.

He teaches her with care and patient more than her mom ever done. She feels like floating in the air, Dancing with all the angels up there.

He even give her food for lunch everyday.

But later, 5 pm when her work time is over, it's time to go back to hell, to the darkest place on earth, her own house.

She was devastated, she don't wanna go back. No, not anymore, she don't ever wanna go back.

But she must.

Her blood start will start boiling again, as the smoke hitted her nose.

"Having fun huh?" Her mom sit on the sofa, with her eyes dark as the devil, ready to attack whenever she can.

"I am just finished working" She said, looking down to her feet in fear.

"You call that working?" She forces Karen to look at her face and hit her head back causes her head to hit the door.

Karen nodded. "Ah, where is my money" She said.

"The money will be at the end of the month"

Her mom's eyes widened. "Ah, the end of the month? How do we supposed to eat for 30 days?" 

She swallowed her saliva, She knows her dad don't have a stable job to begin with, and their addiction to drugs, cigarette and alcohol eat up all of their savings.

"Thats how the system works"

Her mom eyes widened again, it's like a lion who can eat her alive in seconds. She is terrifed.

She put her hands on her neck, try to choke Karen as she gasp for air. "You answer me one more time, I break your neck!"

Karen start to cry, she don't even believe this monster is what she called 'Mother' after all. 

"I am going to ask my boss if he can give me the salary per-days" She said in a very soft voice.

"Then?"

She don't answer. She don't wanna know what happen next.

"If your pretty little boss don't give it to you what will you want me to do?" Her mom blow a smoke in front of your nose.

"I don't know" Karen said,

Then in a second, another slap on her right cheek, following her left cheek and a punch on her jaw turn her face into a swollen skin with alot of bruises, and blood on the corner of her mouth.

"Today you sleep outside until I get the answer" 

She said, and kicked her out
