24: Pretty Thing

"Shh, it's just me. You're fine."

Jungkook.

You give him a tiny nod, showing you understand, and you won't freak out. He slowly moves his hand away from your mouth, inching it down to your waist to pull you tighter against him. Your tummy erupts with butterflies at the burning sensation his hand leaves on you. Positive that your entire face is redder than a tomato, relief washes through you that he can only see the back of your head right now.

You're snapped back to reality when the voices speak up again.

"What exactly did you hear?"

"I heard voices, one of them sounded familiar too."

"Who did it sound like?"

"Seokjin."

Jungkook stiffens when you two hear the eldest's name. The way the voice said it with such disgust, the disdain is obvious. Your heart races when you see two tall figures through the leaves of the giant bush you and Jungkook are currently hiding in. A dark chuckle sends chills through your whole body, then the second voice sneers.

"I've been wondering what happened to that fucker." Your stomach clenches impossibly tight when the taller figure starts pacing, his head moving up and down as if he's searching for something. Then, the voice comes again, a singsong tone to it, "Here here, Jinnie~" The first voice laughs quietly at the other's antics.

"We know you're hiding, boy. Come on out now."

You feel Jungkook tighten his hold on you when the vampire's gaze drifts over your hiding place. You hold your breath until he walks to the other side of the camp. You're almost relieved until you realize what he's doing.

He's going to search the whole camp.

He's going to find you both.

You send up a silent prayer that you two are the only ones left close to the camp, then you close your eyes, not wanting to watch the seconds tick by until he finds you. You almost jump out of your skin when Jungkook places his mouth super close to your ear and whispers almost soundlessly, "We need to run, Y/n."

Twisting your neck to get a good look at his face, you look at him like he's insane. Where the hell are you supposed to run to exactly? And if he doesn't remember, you are not even close to fast, especially when you're being hunted by vampires.

Jungkook takes your chin and pulls your ear closer to his mouth again, "You need to trust me. It's our only chance." You nod hesitantly, wondering bitterly why he can't just fight them. He seems strong enough, and there're only two of them. You just really don't want to run again.

Your stomach flips over pathetically when he sends you a small smile.

Ok, fine. You'll run again.

Damn it.

Jungkook scoots backwards, a slight rustle of leaves under him making you want to hurl from anxiety. You're still tucked in his lap, his arm around your waist as he drags you along with him. You keep an eye on the vampires searching the camp, noting how thorough they're being. That's good though, it'll give you more time to run when they're not looking in your direction. Jungkook finally makes it through the other side of the bush, then he helps you to a crouching position. He peeks his head over the top to see where the vampires are. You see him squint, then nod in satisfaction before he crouches down to you again.

"Whatever happens, do not look back. Just keep running as fast as you can." You nod at him, your eyes as big as saucers as he continues, "If you're lucky enough to lose them, then hide. They can run faster and longer than you, so you won't stand a chance if you don't hide. Do you understand me?" He grips your shoulders and you nod again, then you whisper softly, fear lacing your words, "Yes, but please don't leave me, Jungkook. Please don't."
