When I woke up, Pony was just stirring. I blinked my eyes against the harsh sunlight and noticed Pony had just slipped on the jeans he had been working in last night. I couldn't help but stare at his bare chest, a small outline of abs shielded his stomach.

"Are you gonna stare forever, or what?" He let out a goofy grin and pulled a white shirt on. I felt so comfortable with this boy even though I had just met him.

"Can't tell Darry I fell asleep in here. I'd be made fun of for the rest of my life."

"Why?" I sat up this time.

"Oh, I dunno. The boys just like to intimidate you sometimes. So I better get out of here before the rest of the house stirs." I watched him as he creaked open the door and closed it.

I decided to go back to bed. I closed my eyes but I just couldn't fall asleep. I turned for a good 20 minutes before I heaved myself up. I heard Pony and Soda talking, but I couldn't make out what they were saying till Soda yelled something about Pony not being able to sleep without him. I grinned to myself, Soda knew.  I put on some deodorant and cheap perfume that I had given to me, along with a light blue sundress and a black leather jacket. I fixed up my face by applying a small amount of mascara, blush, and some natural eyeshadow. I headed out of my room.

PONYBOYS P.O.V

I headed into the house with Johnny by my side. I walked a few feet through the door before I was told to turn around and close my eyes.

I was very confused. I assumed maybe they got me a dog as I had asked. But to my surprise, when I was told to turn around, was a girl about 5'4 with perfect blue eyes, brown hair, and the tiniest freckles underneath her eyes and across her nose. I saw her searching my face and I could tell the feeling was mutual.

"Ain't she perty Pony?" Soda asked, giggling.

Her smile made my stomach turn. No one had ever made me feel like this.

"Pretty. Very pretty." I blurted out and my face was a dark red. I felt the burn.

We stood there staring at each other for a while till I was told to go help put away the stuff that was bought for her earlier. We walked to the guest room and quietly started putting away the clothes into the dresser.

We shared the same silence. I didn't mind though, it was nice. I finally broke it and made conversation.

"I'm assumin' you'll be 'round here a while?" I asked, actually wanting her to say forever.

"I guess so. I don't have anywhere to go." She flashed me a sad look. I lifted her face in my hands. Her face was so soft. I smiled.

"Don't you worry bout' nothin.' You'll have such a good time here and you won't regret it. Our gang really is amazing." I said sympathetically. I finally let her head go after staring into her eyes for a while.

It only took us a couple of minutes more to finish everything, but she was already passed out on the bed and I was beyond exhausted. I slipped my jeans and tank top off, only being in my boxers and climbed into the bed. I didn't even care. It's not like we were dating, I have a girlfriend.

I woke up before her. I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked with the sun lighting up her face. She looked peaceful. I quickly slipped my jeans on and smirked as I felt her eyes on my abs and back.

"Are you gonna stare forever or what?" I joked and pulled my white shirt over my head.

She didn't respond. "Don't tell Darry I fell asleep here, I'd be made fun of for the rest of my life." I grinned this time.

"Why?"

She sat up and we locked eyes again, but only for a split second. I explained to her and then slowly creeped out of the bedroom, quietly closing the door behind me.

I ran into Soda.

He looked me up and down and then started uncontrollably laughing.

"Please don't tell the gang!" I pleaded, seriously.

"Oh, I won't. But you just met this girl and now you're already sleeping with her?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I didn't mean to. We were both exhausted. It won't happen again."

"Promise?"

"Promise." I walked out of the door, glad to be out of that situation.

"I thought you're too scared to sleep without me!" He yelled at me and I gave him a joking glare.

AMYBETHS P.O.V

I ran into Soda and he smiled at me. "Let's go for a walk." He tossed me an apple and I bit into it, the juice filling my mouth.

We again walked in silence for a bit before he spoke up. "Ponyboy really has taken a liking to you. You can see the love in his eyes."

I looked up but didn't say anything till I had the courage. "Has he ever had a girlfriend?"

"Sure. He's had many. But I've never seen him look at you the way he does. And I can tell you obviously like him too. The entire gang was making jokes out in the kitchen after you guys had gone to your room. You wouldn't stop staring." He scratched the back of his neck and I just smiled. I threw my apple core on the side of the road.

"I can see a future between you too. A 'highschool' type of romance." He ruffled my hair and then changed the subject. "I'm glad Johnny found you. You've only been here a few days but you've already made a difference. Sure we've had our girls, but to most of us, everyone except Pony," he emphasized except, "you're like a kid sister to us. I've always wanted one. You have a sassy attitude and aren't afraid to say things." This made me smile, and we neared a gas station. I had just then noticed he had his DX uniform on.

"Now that we're here I can't let you walk back alone, and I'll be late to my shift if I do walk you. Whatta say about coming into work with me? It's just me and Steve working here today. I'm sure you could help us ring people up." I nodded and followed him in.

"Help yourself to candy, we don't mind." And with that, he disappeared behind the counter and into the garage where Steve was already working on a car.

I grabbed a pack of starbursts and a coke. I went and sat behind the counter on a stool, eating my candy and sipping my soda.

Just then, Pony walked in. A girl next to him, about an inch shorter, with blonde straight hair, skinny, brown eyes, wearing black jeans, white shirt, and a blue jean jacket. She reminded me of someone, I just couldn't remember.

They were arm in arm. Pony looked happy.

"Oh, Amybeth!" He paused. "Meet Eleanor!"
