A School Mystery?

The rest of the week went by fast, and before I realized it was already the day before the halloween party. Aoi-chan refused herself during the whole week to show me pictures of my costume, she would always deny my requests, saying with pride stamped on her face: "You need to wait until the party day, so you'll be super mega surprised when you see how it looks like!"

Honestly this was only getting me anxious, but I must confess I felt a little excited too. The end of classes' bell rang, and I packed up my things very slowly, after all those days I was very carefree and unworried, I had completely forgot the thoughts saying bad things would happen during the party.

- Hey, Nene-chan. The other day I heard a very mysterious rumor, do you have any interest.

Aoi-chan killed all my joy, and with a sigh I realized the situation was too good to be truth, there was always a weird rumor which would ruin my day.

- Yeah, what is it about?

- They say in October 31 when the haunted clock strikes midnight, a ghost will appear, and if he seems anyone trying to dress up as a supernatural... he will transform this person in a real one!

Okay now I was entirely unmotivated, as if I wanted to become a real fish, that was the thing I was avoiding the most!

- Why would he do that?

- Hm. Maybe he gets angry with humans trying to become things like him, when they already have all what the ghost wants.

How did Aoi-chan came to that theory? She was developing the character herself, more then it had to, and maybe that wasn't the ghost's reason at all, but if a lot of people starting believing it Aoi-chan's version would replace the truth.

- O-okay, I think that's enough.

- Nene-chan, do you wanna come to my home and check out the costume?

I hesitated for a moment, that invitation sounded so great! It was reasonable for me to see the costume a little before the party, this way I could say if there was anything I wanted to add or to remove, even though I relied on Aoi-chan's good taste. I almost accept the proposal, but I couldn't. I had to tell Hanako-kun about the rumor the sooner I could, this story could even be about one of the seven mysteries. I put on a sad look.

- Sorry Aoi-chan, there are some things I need to solve here at school, so I can't go with you.

- Ah that's sad. Anyways, if you end up soon you can still stop by and take a look at the costume.

- Thanks, bye bye!

I went straight to Kou-kun's classroom, it was something he had to hear about as much as Hanako-kun. I called him and nearly dragged him by the aisles to the old building, I should have said something.

- Yashiro, I missed you!

Hanako-kun floated around me with the same mischievous face he always had, and I thought "yeah I bet what you missed was your toilet cleanup".

But I tried to focus on the reason I was there instead in Aoi-chan's house, so I wouldn't start chit chatting.

- You two, I just hear a new rumor, and it's about the Halloween Party.

I told them all Aoi-chan and me talked about, and exposed my concerning towards the people on the party too, since probably everyone would be in a supernatural costume.

Kou-kun had a disappointed look in his face, he was probably looking forward a lot for tomorrow, even more then me cause it would be his first time attending to a party like that, at least at school, and now he had ghost stuff to deal with.

Hanako-kun just seemed curious and thoughtful, but he didn't said what was going trough his mind so I has to ask.

- Hanako-kun, could this "ghost" be one of the school mysteries?

- Nah, I don't think so, the description doesn't match with any other mystery, it may be a little similar with the first mystery but only because there are clocks involved.

- Do you think the "haunted clock" from the rumor has anything to do with Akane-kun clock??

Hanako-kun shrugged. I guess since this clock was on the school area it could be any of them. Probably it wasn't any of the classrooms clocks, or so I hoped, otherwise we would never find it.

- So it only appears when the haunted clock strikes midnight, right?

Kou-kun said as if reassuring, he was probably having an idea. Hanako-kun seemed to catch his thoughs, cause with an admired "oh" he landed on the floor and had a more confident look.

- Maybe if we break the clock and let the time still for before midnight, the ghost won't be able to appear.

Wow, it was a smart conclusion, usually I would expect it coming from Hanako-kun, but as it seemed Kou-kun wasn't that stupid. Actually I felt myself being the dumbest on the room, since it had passed some time since I first heard the rumor and I didn't even think about anything to stop it.

- Nice, kid, I think that's it. - Hanako-kun said

- But we still have no ideia of where the clock is... - Kou-kun answered troubled

Hanako-kun walked towards me and started playing with my hair.

- But don't you have something more important to do right now, Yashiro?

I tried to understand what Hanako-kun was talking about, then I gazed at the window and realized the sun hasn't set yet, in other words, I still had time to go to Aoi's.

- Right, I need to go see my costume, can we solve all of this tomorrow? The party only starts at 10 pm, anyways.

I didn't wait for their answer, and just started running to the exit. I hoped it wasn't too late to visit Aoi-chan.

Ps: sorry i took some weeks to continue the story, but I'll write when i feel like doing it otherwise the story won't come together, thx and hope you're enjoying it!
