We arrived at the church where the marriage ceremony will he held. My best friend drove with me instead of my family.
It's the big day.
"Are you ok, ?" Jasmine asked looking at me wierdly.
"Of course." I replied as I opened the door to my car.
Once I step outside, little breeze blowing makes me shiver. I'm a little cold, light sweat coating my back. Im worried it will dampen my gown.
She falls along my steps as we move towards the entrance. The place well decorated with the red and white roses. But I can't focus on them. I wonder if the shiver was from the breeze or my nerves. Nonetheless I keep repeating my Mantra of the day.
You can do it.
I breathe deep and try to calm myself. My family arrived a few minutes later. We have been early to get ready, check the arrangements and welcome the guests. Surely I can't trust someone else to make sure everything is running smoothly. I knew how important it is to the love of my life. After all he is getting married. We have been living together for two years now. Still in love wth each other.
All the people sat at their places. Benjamin stood at the altar. He's so handsome in his sharp black tuxedo. Angular jaw, high cheekbones, a huge smile on his full lips, blond hair and green eyes glinting with something different today.
And he's mine!
I caught his eyes and he smiled which I returned encouragingly. I remember that look so well as if it were yesterday. I find myself even as ceremony started, thinking back to when we first met. Our marriage had been arranged by our parents.
"But dad, why don't you understand? I just dont want to marry someone who I never met." The blond man said as we approach their table. His back is to us.
My heart skipped a beat hearing this. Thank God we are on same page. Maybe we can persuade our families otherwise. I looked up at my father hoping he at least would reconsider his decision of marrying be to this stranger. But I frowned seeing he has ignored his statement.
Come on, won't I get my shot at love!
"Son, how many times do I have to remind you that I promised to my friend your hand in marriage to his daughter? At least meet the young lady."
I sighed as we reached their table by the large glass window showing the busy street below. The first thing I noticed is the fancy table. Crisp white tablecloth, vase of roses in the centre and shiny silverware. But the strange thing is that they are seated on a table for four and we are total six. Please tell me its not what I think. I realised I was such a nervous wreck that I didn't even noticed the restaurant when we arrived. Of course its fancy. Nothing less expected from our filthy rich families.
" Ah Chris, you are here." Mr. Carter said as he rose from his seat followed by his wife and son. Big smiles on his face. They are the owner of The Carter and Sons, a hotshot business enterprise just as my father's.
I wonder how my uptight father have friends to call him by nickname. Christopher Cullen is strict, cold and insenstive. But I'm my daddy's princess, I love him so much. He only once asked he something in my entire life. So I didn't have the heart to deny him when he asked me to marry his friend's son.
