"Ben, where are you taking me?" Jenny whined. She has been trying to coax out the surprise I've planned for her since we left home.
We were on a road leading to outskirts of the city. There are trees on both sides of the road, contrast to high skyscrapers I'm used to seeing.
"I told you, you'll see when we get there." I'm not gonna give in. I want to see her face lit up when she sees it.
"I demand to know." she huffed. I glanced at her. Eyes filled with curiosity and impatience, forehead ceased, jaw locked. Her nose is red now and cheeks puffed with annoyance.
God she's adorable!
"A picnic, and that's all you are gonna get out of me." She is too cute for me to not give in. I should have known. But not another word. I won't fall for her charms.
"We'll see. I assume this picnic is in the woods. Because that's all I can see as far as I can look." She grinned devilishly. Determination showing on her face. I won't give in!
"Of course not! I'm not taking you to the wood for picnic. Well I'm kind off bit its no..." I stopped short realizing I've said too much. I groaned but she seemed to be amused.
"There won't be so much of surprise if you keep on going like that." I muttered. So much for not falling in her charms!
Thank God that we are nearly there or else the surprise would be ruined. I took the exit and drove on a muddy dirty road leading to our destination. I noticed Jenny had went quite, taking in the new surroundings.
"Wait." I cut the engine and went to the other side to get the door for her.
"Thanks." Her warm smile did things to me. How I wish to see it everday every second.
I extended my hand to her and couldn't shake the feeling when she placed her in mine. She feels so soft, so fragile.
We start to ascend a little trip up the trail required for my setting. Ever the curious, she looked around the woods, her eyes never resting on a thing. She inhaled deeply, a small smile playing at her lips.
"It's so beautiful here. These chirping birds, earthy-woody smell. It's so serene." She beemed at me so bright I couldn't help but smile back.
"I'm glad that you liked it, baby." I raised our joined hands to my lips, placing a soft kiss on her knuckles.
Hands joined, she followed my lead. I am ecstatic today. Not because of the smile she gave me, neither of the feel of her hand in mine. But her mere presence made me feel that. Like she lights up my body. The rest is the bonus. The bonus that I'm craving so much lately.
I took her off the trail. She looked at me worried but asks nothing. Like she trusts me!
"I hope you know the way back. Because I'm not fond of getting lost in woods." She teased.
"Yeah." I chuckled. She looked towards me at that sound. I thought she will tease me further but she just smiled. There's something passing through her eyes that I can't comprehend.
We fall in a confortable silence. Soon enough the forest cover thined and we came to a clearing. I instantly turned to her to see her reaction.
"We have arrived, baby." But I'm not sure she listened. She seemed to be lost in what is in front of her eyes. Her lips parted and she took in a sharp breath. She looked at me, then at the setting, then the nature that surrounds us.
