"So, Midoriya, are you actually quirkless?" Aiya asked as they walked to the arcade on the warm Sunday afternoon, pushing her half-frame glasses up on her face.

Izuku didn't react, and continued staring off into space.

"Testing, testing. Ground control to major Midoriya, can you hear us?" Ena said with his hands cupped around his mouth. Izuku looked up.

"Huh?"

Ena and Aiya laughed. Hanako smiled.

"Dude, you have been super spacey all day. What's going on in that head of yours?" The blue-haired boy asked, tapping the freckled teen's forehead.

"Just thinking. Nothing you'd be interested in."

"You sure? You are aware that I am interested in pretty much everything, right?"

"Well, maybe you would be interested in it, but trust me, you do not wanna know what goes on in here. It is beyond the comprehention of mortals like yourself," Izuku half-joked.

"Oh yeah? Who said I'm mortal? I haven't died yet."

"You will," Izuku deadpanned, a shadow falling over his face. "Everyone will die eventually."

"What about you? Didn't you just say a minute ago that you aren't a mortal?"

Izuku opened his mouth to reply, but then he heard the rattling noise again. Whipping around, he leapt in front of the sludge monster before it could reach Aiya. It grabbed hold of him, and he saw something he'd missed last time: two huge eyes and a mouth, the only part of the creature that wasn't made of sludge.

"You weren't the one I was going for, but I suppose you'll make a fine meat suit as well," The monstrosity's deep voice rumbled, and it began to seep into his mouth and nose. He couldn't breath. This was a whole new brand of suffocating. Izuku tried to reach his box cutter - to try and hurt the villain, or to quicken his own demise, he didn't know - but he couldn't move his arms. He could feel the mass of living slime filling his stomach and his lungs. Soon, the slime would be too much for his organs to contain, and they would burst. Then, the sludge would fill up the rest of his body, crushing everything inside of him until he was just what the sludge monster had called him: a meat suit.

The greenette had somehow managed to pull out his box cutter. Using what little oxygen he had left in his lungs, he mustered as much strength as he could and plunged it into his throat.

This was going to take longer than he thought.
