EDITED

I rushed to my locker as the loud ringing of the school bell deafened my ears, hurrying to get folders so I could just get home and sit in my room listening to music. I grabbed my folder and revision books ready to head home after a torturing day of school and started walking towards the exit, my path to freedom straight across me but just near the exit, to the right, I spotted my teacher, Mrs. Addison almost racing towards me. Oh god, this was not going to be good.

Mrs. Addison had this look which she always had when she wanted a favour- which was pretty often, might I add and currently, there it was, plastered on her face. She was going to ask for something, I just knew it. I rotated my body a few degrees to the right trying to avoid her but she called 'Nina, dear!" waving her hand frantically in the air so I had no choice but to stop walking, waiting for her arrival.

Out of breath she spoke, "Nina, I-I need-", she stopped for another gasp of air before she blurted out "-to talk to you."

Really? I didn't notice, I thought to myself before responding, "About what?"

She paused for a while regaining her pulse and then exclaimed "About your grades."

Suddenly my eyes flew wide open, "Oh no" I gulped before desperately questioning, "Am I failing?"

"What? No- no- no! Quite the opposite, actually." she iterated as if asking a riddle, "Nina, your grades are fine, infact they're above average!" She proudly told me before continuing, "Speaking of which, I wanted to ask you a favour?" She said in a questioning tone. Ofcourse she did. She simply waited for me to agree or ask her to continue but knowing by my release of breath, she understood I was not in the mood so continued before she angered me any more.

"You see, there are a few students in the higher years whom are academically struggling, they don't even know the basics of Algebra let alone what they're currently learning- Trigonometry-"

"Please get to the point, Miss." I said in an uninterested and tired tone of voice. I wasn't usually this snappy, heck, I usually didn't even have the courage to talk back to a teacher the way I just had but today was a Monday, and those usually brought out the worst in me.

"-Oh, um, okay-" I could tell I had startled her, "One of our least academic students has his exams just around the corner, and we've tried everything- everything!" She emphasised, "But the chances of him passing are close to an agonizing one per cent-"

I sighed, tapping my foot as Mrs Addison continued to prolong the conversation.

"- So what I'm getting at is, I need a tutor." She whispered hoping for a subtle response from me.

"What, me? tutoring? Miss, with all do respect, I don't think I can do that, I mean I'm younger than them-"

"Yes, I know but you're at their stage of learning, if not higher. Please, Nina? We've tried many ways to get his grades higher but nothing works, you're our best chance."

I stood there for a second wondering who this person could be and whether this is a good idea. "I don't know.."

"At least try it out? if there's any problems then you can quit, just give it a try?"

I sighed loudly "But why me?" I whined.

"You're an intellegent and commited student" She simply responded with a smile.

I looked at her for a while, still unsure but eventually gave in, "Fine." I let out in a sigh before I saw Mrs Addison's face beam in achievement.

"Okay. You need to go to his house tomorrow at 5pm, his name's Ian Somerhalder- Oh and this is his address." she quickly informed me, handing me a piece of paper with a number and street. She looked me in the eye, thanking me as if I'd just saved her life before she quickly walked away.

"But miss-" I quickly shouted as I realised whose name she has just called out, but it was too late, she was already gone.

I woke up way too early this morning to the sound of birds chirping in the sunny weather. I got up with one thought running through my head straight away: I have to tutor Ian Somerhalder today. The guy who completely shattered, but also the guy I havn't stopped loving. This was going to be so hard, I doubted I could do this. You know what, I don't have to do this.. I'm going to go straight up to Mrs Addison and tell her that I have a problem with tutoring this student, I'm sure she'll understand. Ian had probably spoken to her already, trying to get out of it. I wondered if my sister had found out. what would happn if she did. All hell would break lose, that's what.

"Nina! Why am I always calling you!? can't you get downstairs yourself for once?" Claire screamed, clearly irritated.

"I'm coming!" I screamed back in frustration at her constant shouting.

"Oh and I'm going to go and stay with dad for a little while."

"What, why?"

"Can't I go to see my dad?"

I rolled my eyes knowing what was coming again, "For the last time Claire! You know how the situation is! You know what he did to mom so why do you go to him?"

"He didn't do anything to me did he?"

Sometimes Claire could be so insensitive and selfish.

"Yes but Claire, if it's going to hurt mom if you go to him, then-"

"Oh, whatever Nina, I'll go if I want to. End of." she shouted turning around to head for the door before she stopped and looked at me "Oh and by the way, mom's crying about it again, fix her." She said before proceeding to leave and slamming the door behind her.

"Urgh!" I growled as I grabbed my pillow and dropped my head into it thinking to myself, why am I the only adult in this house?

                                                                                *     *     *

I was back home from school and had talked to Mrs Addison abput the tutor situation, but she had almost begged me to tutor him, so eventually, like always, I gave in. When it comes to Mrs Addison, no one can win, because she has these puppy dog eyes that nobody would dare to say no to, and before I knew it my alarm started ringing and I knew what that meant.

It's tutoring time.
