I looked at him completely shocked and he looked back at me with sorrow filled in his eyes almost as if he was ashamed. I had hundreds of questions running through my head but my mouth just wouldn't open in order to ask them so we both froze there, hand in hand and constant eye contact. I could tell he was waiting for a response but I was so caught of guard, I didn't expect that at all and I just couldn't manage to get any words out right now, I was speechless.
"You can leave if you still want to" he softly spoke with his head dropped down making me wonder whether his own words had hurt him. At first I was considering his offer because of how uncomfortable I felt but I realised that he needed me so I sat down next to him and managed to get out a few words.
"Tell me what happened" I said, eager to know more as he glanced at me with slightly teary eyes and looked away trying to hide them before he got up and went to his toilet closing the door behind him.
I sat there feeling a little awkward but I knew why he did that. He's really insecure and I can imagine how hard it is for him to cry in front of someone because fo his "bad boy" reputation. I thought it would be best to leave him alone for as long as he needed so I looked around his room. His room was pretty manly, he had grey walls completely scattered with frames sport certificates. He seemed extremely athletic from his soccer, football, basketball and baseball certificates and a shelf of trophies which were probably for the same sports.
I didn't expect any less from him since I knew he was "popular" and there was bound to be loads of awards so I moved on and looked on his desk which looked pretty empty except for a picture frame of Ian in his football uniform holding his trophy but behind it I saw the edge of another paper popping out from behind. I carefully pulled it out to see a picture of Ian as a little kid being held by what seemed to be a caring mother's arms. I smiled looking at the photo, feeling bad for Ian before he opened the bathroom door and I slammed the photo on the desk as quick as I could.
He obviously noticed and looked at the photo before staring at me.
"I-I'm sorry I just.. I was looking around and I saw it so-"
"Oh that old photo? I thought I threw it away ages ago!" He exclaimed walking towards me and grabbing the photo only to throw it in the trash.
I knew what he was doing but I let it go.
"Should I go? tuition hours are over but I came late so if you want me to tutor you for longer, im completely happy to do that" I offered him.
"No you don't have to tutor me for longer" He began before I cut him off.
"Okay then, see you tomorrow?"
"Nina, wait." He said stopping we from walking out "I was wondering if you wanted to go out somewhere?"
Was he asking me out? I wondered to myself. But I always think too much of things and end up looking stupid so I realised he could just mean hanging out as friends so I agreed,
"Sure, but where?"
"Are you hungry?" he smiled.
"starving" I said, smiling back.

Ian took me to a fancy restaurant which was a little weird since I was wearing a blue hoodie and he was wearing a simple grey t-shirt. we just about managed to get in as we didn't have reservations but Ian somehow managed to bribe and compliment the waitress in to letting us in, since he had a lot of skills in flirting. Sometimes I wondered whether his "nice personality" was just an act to get in my pants but no way was that gonna happen. No matter how bad a relationship I have with ym sister, I respect the her love relationships and wouldn't do that.
