There's a certain joyous hollow feeling you get when you complete something. When I typed THE END for this book, I remember sitting back and just staring at the two words. There was such finality in them. It felt bittersweet, the fact that I had finished my very first novel ever. The fact that the Vangen's journey was over, for now at least.
Dear reader, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to walk this arduous path with me. When I began writing this story near eight months ago, I never imagined what it would become. A story of struggle, of hardship, of perseverance against evil, and the trappings of a morally gray world. Dux's toil, Regis' vengeance, Libro's suffering, Culter's madness, they all are relatable in some capacity, not quite good and yet not quite evil. They are simply people, trying to survive in the lives they were given.
And I could not have done it without you. All the lovely comments, the constructive criticisms, the amazing talent that you dear reader possess. All of this has helped me achieve what I thought was not possible. I have written a book. A first draft, of that there is no doubt, but it is the first step. And doesn't every journey begin as such?
Now of course I have news. Both good and bad. The good news of course is that the Vangen story is not yet over. I have in my head the idea for two more novels. A trilogy, with more bloody action and hardships and tricks that should delight you to your core. I am wanting to publish these stories. Either through traditional means or self publishing on amazon. I want to share the story of the Vangen with everyone and so I am going to work on a second draft, fixing up the mistakes and weaker points in the story.
Unfortunately, that is where the bad news comes into play. As of now I will be keeping the second draft off of Wattpad. Since I am wanting to traditionally publish first, I have to think of copyright. Sadly, thieves roam the Wattpad streets, stealing works and being the conniving bastards that they are. It's not you, it's them. The first draft will remain here of course. Free of charge lest Wattpad decides that I am star worthy, but that is a completely different horse to ride on, so to speak. Either way I will comb the chapters from time to time, preening for grammatical errors and making minor adjustments for flow and style. Even a first draft must look their best.
But the second draft is practically almost a quarter done. The whole first part of the book has been rewritten and by then the story really starts to take its own. When the second draft has been polished to a mirror shine and is queried to publishers, I will begin on the second novel, which of course will start here. Just as its older brother did those many months ago.
I have always wanted to be an author. It has been my dream since the beginning. Being able to write here on Wattpad and seeing all of you amazing readers comment and vote on my story has helped this dream become a possibility. Again, I thank you. I thank you for the deepest recesses of my dark little soul.
Thank you, truly.
Ever your faithful Storyteller,
J. J. Fritz
