"Constance, are you busy?"
"No, I'm in here packing up my closet." I say as I step out to see Enoch standing in my room. He has a small smile on his face that I return.
"You know you don't have to pack up your room, we have people to do that and you can use this as your spare room. I'm sure the King has already had a new wardrobe brought to the room you two will be sharing." Enoch states as he sits on my bed. I shake my head at him before taking a seat.
"I still like feeling human. So let me do it please."
"As you wish my Queen, I only come to tell you that they desire you presence in the cells."
Immediately I stiffen as I stand and begin to pace. My heart rate speeds up and my anxiety comes to the surface. It's been a few hours since Steex left me to be alone and I didn't expect to see anyone until dinner in another hour or so. Now Enoch is telling me that my presence is requested in the cells. The last place I ever wanted to be again.
"W-Why, I just....no...I can't...please." I stammer only to have Enoch in front of me in a flash. He cups my cheeks in his hands and quickly lays a kiss on my lips. This is the second person I've kissed today that isn't the King. It feels so wrong but I know that it's necessary at some point. When he pulls away, I immediately feel the pull I felt with Steex and I smile.
Enoch's calmness quickly seeps into my bones and he smiles at me.
"Are you better my Queen?" He asks without moving his lips and I giggle before nodding my head yes. Enoch then takes my hand and leads me out of my room and towards the cells. He releases my hand when we are down the steps and walking out onto the land. The closer we walk to the cells, the more tense I get.
"Will Tevilla be down there? Will the King?" I choke out as the door that leads me down to hell comes into view.
"Yes. Both actually. You need not worry Constance, we will protect you, but rest assure you have no enemies here except one and you'll figure her out soon."
"You're taking me to the very people who kept me captive and did things to me for a year. So forgive me if I call all of them enemies."
"I won't argue with you on that, but these are not the doctors. Now lets hurry, they are waiting on us." Enoch says before he uses his inhumane speed to leave in a flash. I do the same and end up crashing into his back. When I gain my foot, I realize that I'm standing in the very room that I was taken out of not too long ago. Sitting at a round table is a group of people I don't recognize. All of them are men except for one woman who has her jet black hair pulled back in a tight bun. They all give me odd looks causing me to bite my bottom lip and look up at Enoch.
"Constance." The sound of the King saying my name sends a violent yet pleasurable feeling down my spine. Slowly I turn to see him strutting into the room. His face is hard but his eyes are soft as they gaze at me.
"My King." I say back as I look into his eyes.
"The people that you see before you are members of the Elites. They aren't quite the Elders but more like second rank." The King says as he stops in front of me. "They are here because of the information put in the computer system."
"What are you talking about?"
"Earlier today, when I took you vitals and wrote down how fast you healed," Tevilla began as she made herself known. "I came here and put it into the system. Well, evidently that notified the Elites and they are here to see if what I wrote was true." My mouth immediately goes dry as I stare up at the King hoping he can explain. He looks beside himself with anger and I can almost feel it radiating off of him.
"Please explain to me what's going on." I beg the two siblings.
"They want to see you heal." The Kings says softly.
"Oh don't be coy with the woman." A strong feminine voice says and I turn around to see the woman who was sitting at the round table, stand up. Immediately I know that she's the enemy.
She has a dangerous smirk on her face, making my skin crawl.
"We want to harm you to see if you will heal like they said you would Constance. Not only that, but I want to test your strength, your stamina and if you please me, I won't kill you."
A growl so loud comes from not only Enoch, but Tevilla and the King."
"You won't kill her either way, you jealous bitch. Even with her dead, I'd still never choose you." The King spits as he moves to stand in front of me. I watch a look of hurt flash across the mysterious woman's eyes before she squares her shoulders.
"King, I understand that this-" The woman begins, her voice shaken.
"No, you listen to Morbi, I will snatch your head from your shoulders. Try me." There is a long silence before the Morbi woman turns and sit back in her chair. The King turns back to me and exhales a breath. "You don't have to do any of that. All you need to do is show them how fast you heal."
"How will I do that?" I ask as my hands begin to shake.
"I'm going to cut your palm with my dagger and we'll see what happens."
"What! No! That doesn't make any sense! I was starved and gain my weight back within an hour, there were no open wounds or cuts on me! So how the fuck do we know my wound will heal quickly!?" I snap in a panic. Enoch and Tevilla both come to my side to reassure me.
"You will, I promise sister." Tevilla says as she rubs my back.
"How do you know that?" Comes my reply as I begin to sob. Honestly I don't know why I'm crying this bad. It's not like I'll die from the cut.
"I ran your DNA..If what I found is true, you will be fine and no one will harm you. Enoch and I will make sure of it."
"And I also." The King adds.
With a deep breath and a shaky exhale, I put my trust into the three of them without any more question.
Everyone turns to face the Elites and Morbi is starring daggers at me, but this time I don't tear my gaze away from hers. I hold it in challenge and when she let out a low growl, I feel my teeth start to tingle before I step forward on one foot and let out a roar that seems to shake the room. As soon as it ends I throw my hand over my mouth in surprise.
"Holy shit!" Enoch says with a shit eating grin.
"A Queen indeed." One of the men at the table says making me smile.
"Alright my Queen, give me your hand." The King says and I immediately do so. I watch as he pulls out a dagger and places the very sharp tip right underneath my thumb. Slowly, he begins to drag it down and to my surprise, my skin does not tear.
Everyone in the room gasps and my King looks at me with wide eyes before he does the same thing again, only this time he digs the blade deeper into my skin. I feel a slight ache but nothing compared to what it should be. There's blood on the blade but none on my palm.
"Dear fucking goddess above, or below I should say." Tevilla says as she falls to her knees. Enoch does the same and even the men at the round table slide from their chairs onto their knees.
"It is you." The King says as he stares down at me with tears in his eyes. He takes me by surprise when he cups my face and stares into my eyes pleadingly. "Please goddess, remember me."
"What are you talking about Adonis?" I say as I give him a bewildered expression. As soon as I realize what I said, my eyes widen. I just spoke the Kings true name, although no one had ever told it to me before. Adonis's knees buckle and as he begins to sob.
"Oh my love, I have waited centuries for you!" He cries out before something odd happens.
My whole body cools off before everything goes black.
So, only one update tonight and another one tomorrow. It took me three hours to write this and I'm exhausted from work. Please forgive me. I will have more tomorrow.
